The #HDRUKConference 2025 has come to a close, and what a great 2 days it's been! Our highlights include: 💓 Angela Wood on using whole population electronic health records, where she talked about how the real gems of insights can only be uncovered when health data is linked. 🛡️ Lars Murdock on our newly-launched project, SHIELD-CVD, and unlocking the potential of imaging data for cardiovascular research. 💻 Reecha Sofat on the launch of the UK CliC Trusted Research Environment, which will speed up research by streamlining linking cohort data to NHS data. 🏆 Samantha Ip on her work on COVID-19 vaccination with the CVD-COVID-UK/COVID-IMPACT Consortium and the Susannah Boddie Award for Impact of the Year. And, of course, the brilliant posters from team members on their work: Fionna Chalmers on the Codelist Comparison Tool, and Beth Friel on smartphone and wearable patient and public involvement, co-produced with our Public Advisory Group. The team had a fantastic time at the Conference, and we look forward to the next one!

That’s a wrap on a brilliant and enlightening #HDRUKConference! A huge thank you to everyone who connected with us this week, we've had some great discussions and look forward to talking more about collaborations and hub hosting. We've had excellent talks from Simon Thompson and Lewis Hotchkiss at the "Transforming Healthcare with AI" Session chaired by our very own Fatemeh Torabi, We loved sharing how the DPUK Portal helps the research community to host data, create research hubs, and collaborate securely, all with the aim of accelerating dementia research through trusted data access. Please reach out and find out more about how hosting a hub with us can help your research grow. 🌐 Explore more: https://lnkd.in/eUsybFa2 #DPUKPortal #HDRUKResearch #DataForDiscovery #DementiaResearch #TrustedResearchEnvironment

Fantastic and packed two days at #HDRUKconference As my first health data science conference, there was a lot to take in and, of course, I was keen to learn how health data science helps tackle health inequalities... Three key takeaways for me: - Health data science can help respond to social (science) as well as health questions - but interdisciplinarity is important - modelling of factors that shape outcome inequalities varies depending on whether individual, biological, environmental or social ...., so while working towards great diversity in data is important so is sensitivity in interpretation and consideration when categories are social constructs... - and finally the benefits of embracing 'the power of the interloper' (thank you Olivia Swann) in an interdisciplinary context to ask undiscipline specific questions And it was great to meet Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) colleagues as well as catch up with a few previous colleagues from University of Aberdeen :)

What a fantastic couple of days! I’ve just returned from the two day #HDRUKConference 2025, and it’s been an inspiring experience - full of brilliant talks, engaging workshops, and the chance to reconnect with colleagues and make some fantastic new connections. And Glasgow really is an incredible city. A few personal highlights: ✨ Hearing from Professor Angela Wood about the incredible research - happening across HDR UK and her inspiring approach to leadership. 💭 Exploring the many ways AI is being deployed in healthcare, along with the opportunities and challenges it brings. 👩🔬 The final panel session featuring Genomics England, UK Biobank, Our Future Health, and OpenSAFELY - an expertly curated discussion and Q&A that tied the event together perfectly. 🍽️ The amazing selection of restaurants that Glasgow has to offer, very conveniently located near the conference venue! I also had the pleasure of catching up with a few HDR UK Alumni Network members Serifat Folorunso (PhD(Statistics), MSc (Data Science)) Oluwatobi Oni- always a joy! Huge thanks to the incredible HDR UK Events and Comms team for organising such a stimulating and collaborative event.
