The Goal Beyond the Pitch. ⚽ We’re excited to announce a new groundbreaking partnership! We’re teaming up with FIFA Research scholarship and Kingston University to study how a female footballers menstrual cycle affects their susceptibility to severe knee injuries, particularly the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear. The resulting data will be used to help inform guidelines for adapting an athlete's training regimen (training load) and implementing personalised strategies to significantly reduce their overall injury risk. Football isn’t just about what happens on match day, it’s also the countless hours of preparation, recovery, and optimisation. 👉 Did you know women are 2–3x more likely to suffer an ACL injury than men? We’re launching one of the first studies of its kind to understand how the menstrual cycle influences injury risk, using hormonal profiling to properly track and quantify cycle phases. We’re scouting top female footballers in London to join this pioneering project. Help us spread the word and take a much needed step toward closing the health gap in sports science. 🚨 The new "Jess's Rule," a principle to ensure doctors take a patient's symptoms seriously and avoid medical dismissal. 🚨 Because you're never "too young" for cancer. The new "Jess's Rule" is a powerful concept that speaks directly to a systemic issue in healthcare: medical misogyny. It's the dismissal of women's symptoms as emotional, psychosomatic, or simply a normal part of their biology. This long-standing bias has had devastating and, in some cases, fatal consequences. The recent BBC article on the tragic and preventable death of a young person serves as a heart-wrenching wake-up call. It's a powerful reminder that our healthcare system has, for too long, normalised the dismissal of symptoms, and this practice can no longer be tolerated. A life should never be lost for change to be made. This is a call to action for the healthcare sector to build a model that listens, validates, and acts proactively on an individual’s health concerns, regardless of their age or gender. The focus must fundamentally shift from treating a crisis to preventing one through early diagnosis, diligent health screening, and timely intervention. 🚨 Groundbreaking new data in our latest Hertility publication. 🚨    41% of women trying to conceive don’t know their fertile window. In one of the largest studies of its kind, our Hertility research team analysed data from 97,000+ UK women who were actively trying for pregnancy. The results reveal striking fertility awareness gaps that could delay conception and widen inequalities in reproductive health. Key findings: ⚡ 41% could not correctly identify their fertile window. Of these, 13.4% (11,052) didn’t know at all and a further 27.6% (22,704) were unsure. ⚡ Knowledge was lowest among younger women: just 42.5% of under-25s could identify their fertile window. ⚡ Awareness generally increased with age, but dropped again after 45, down to 47.6%. ⚡ Awareness of the fertile window varied significantly by ethnicity: 60% of White women, 57.7% of women of Mixed ethnicity, and 54.6% of Asian women were aware, compared with 49.2% of Black women. ⚡ Fertility knowledge was significantly lower in women with no prior pregnancies and in those who had been trying to conceive for more than 12 months. A lack of understanding about the fertile window can make it harder to time sex effectively, contributing to delays in conception, unnecessary stress, unnecessary intervention and in some cases delays in seeking help. Every woman deserves to understand her body without guessing. This study makes it clear: we need better fertility education, early, accurate, and inclusive. Because reproductive autonomy starts with knowing how your body works. That’s why at Hertility we created a diagnostic test that gives personalised hormone and fertility insights, and an app that brings together cycle and symptom tracking in one place giving women the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their reproductive health.
