And we’re off 💛 The Weekend of HOPE is underway and we’re already seeing incredible photos, stalls, and community events from every corner of the country. If you’re taking part, tag us in your posts and use #WeekendofHOPE so we can see and share what you’re up to. 📸 Sorry again if your leaflets haven’t arrived, our small team packed every envelope by hand, and the response has been bigger than we ever expected. This is just the first step and we'll soon have more ways for you to get involved. Let’s fill this weekend with hope and solidarity in our neighbourhoods. We can’t wait to see what you’re doing where you are.

Challenging Hate | Building Communities
About us
Our work focuses on the organised far right, the communities who are susceptible to them and the issues and policies which give rise to them. We build skills and resilience across communities and civil society organisations, creating an alternative narrative of togetherness and unity. We leverage the power of HOPE by creating a platform for ordinary people to do the extraordinary. That includes supporting the wider sector to have greater impact in opposing hatred in all its forms through more effective collaboration and sharing of skills, promotion of social cohesion and defending Britain’s multicultural and multiracial society. Through our work, we defend, champion and promote democracy and the rule of law; speaking out against anti-democratic and authoritarian forces and policies. To do all of this, we work to build, nurture and safeguard a powerful team of staff, volunteers and supporters, including investing in staff and volunteer learning and development. With our roots firmly and proudly in the British antifascist movement, our approach strategic, remaining agile and meeting and overcoming threats. We are continually researching and reassessing the political and extremist landscape, ready to meet the challenges we face. HOPE not hate Charitable Trust is a registered charity in England and Wales (charity registration number 1013880) that works to raise funds and provide grants to organisations whose activities further its charitable objectives. It is regulated by the Charity Commission and registered with Companies House.

We’ve been blown away by the response to the Weekend of HOPE 💛 Almost 1 million leaflets have gone out and hundreds of local events are happening this weekend, all sharing one message: our communities are stronger when we stand together. We’re a small team, and the response has been bigger than we ever imagined. Every envelope of leaflets was hand-packed by our organisers, who’ve spent weeks on calls and planning sessions to bring this to life. It means a few supporters might not get theirs this time, but you can still be part of the weekend by: 🟡 Downloading a printable Hold on to HOPE poster for your window: https://lnkd.in/dY-HP8MD 🟡 Adding your name to the Record of HOPE: https://lnkd.in/dz3V6vbb We’re now building local networks of volunteers who want to strengthen their communities and stand up to those spreading division. Signing up is the first step in helping shape what comes next. Thank you for standing with us. 💛

A place of worship should always be a place of safety. The attack on Peacehaven Mosque is a horrific act of Islamophobia that could have cost lives. Muslims across Britain are living with rising hate, from abuse on the streets to violence in their communities. HOPE not hate stands with the people of Peacehaven and all those targeted by extremism. Hate grows when we lose sight of our shared humanity. It’s on all of us to bring it back, to care, to act, and to stand together.

Hate seeks to divide us. But hope endures when we stand together. Our solidarity is with the Jewish community today. #britainstandstogether

People in the UK care about fairness, belonging and the possibility of practical change, according to a new mega poll of 45,000 people conducted by HOPE not hate and Ecotricity. Tackling economic insecurity and rebuilding community is the ticket back to a politics that builds on positivity. We want people across the UK to harness the hope that so many of us feel by backing policies that boost economic security, reaching out across dividing lines and rejecting the politics of blame. The poll finds that many people are unhappy about the state of Britain, fearful that it might get worse but also very keen for it to be better. There is overwhelming support for Government initiatives to address their economic anxieties and bring divided communities together. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eNTUp_-2

HOPE not hate reposted this
Hate is on the rise. I've written those words so many times but right now it couldn't be more true. From the far-right marching on the streets of London to the populist radical right winning elections, all the way through to violent and shameful acts of on street racism in communities across the UK. HOPE not hate are often asked what can be done, how people can help and where we can find hope to keep us going. So I've got two asks for you to get you started: 1. Sign up to the Biggest Record of HOPE. Together let's show that there are more people who believe in hope over hate, and in united communities. We will be in touch with more actions you can take. https://lnkd.in/ez-XfcRu 2. Join our Weekend of Action on 18th and 19th October. Thousands of us will take to the streets with a simple message: our communities are stronger together. We will be out distributing leaflets in communities who need to hear that not all is lost. https://lnkd.in/eVVti8DX These two actions won't change everything but they are a start. It's gonna take all of us, working from different angles, to turn things around. And a bit of a personal plea from me - if you've ever approached HOPE not hate and asked for support, a favour or advice - please count these two actions now as how you can help. We need you!
