📰 It was a huge privilege for HTMS to have been invited to Regional Investment Summit 2025 at the Edgbaston Stadium in the West Midlands. The summit, which was hosted by Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer; Peter Kyle MP, Secretary of State for Business and Trade; and Richard Parker; Mayor of the West Midlands, was held for the first time outside of London. Our CEO, Danilo Di Salvo was invited to a round table with Lord Jason Stockwood, Neil Hadley, and Louis Taylor CBE alongside 7 other amazing entrepreneurs, to engage in a round table discussion about our investment journey and how central Government can help start ups and scale ups. These types of conversations are vital to enhance the bridge between policy and practice, and we look forward to staying engaged as we work toward a more supportive and innovative environment for entrepreneurs across the UK. Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) are emerging as one of the most transformative materials in modern engineering, combining exceptional strength, lightness, and heat resistance for applications in extreme environments. Long recognized by organizations like NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration for their potential in aerospace, energy, nuclear, and automotive sectors, CMCs offer unparalleled performance where conventional metals fail — though challenges such as high production costs and complex manufacturing have historically limited their widespread use. That barrier may now be shifting. The UK startup High Temperature Material Systems (HTMS), founded by two former Rolls-Royce engineers, recently secured £1.3 million in funding to scale its proprietary CMC manufacturing technology. The investment — a joint initiative between two British Business Bank regional funds — will allow HTMS to expand its facilities, create up to 40 new jobs, and strengthen the UK’s advanced materials supply chain. By focusing on scalable production methods, HTMS aims to move CMCs beyond aerospace into high-growth markets such as electric vehicle battery casings, where heat management and lightweight materials are critical. Together, these developments illustrate both the technical maturity and the accelerating commercialization of CMCs — positioning them as key enablers in the next generation of sustainable, high-performance technologies. #deepdive #podcast #HTMS #CMC #startup #startups #vc #investment

We are delighted to announce the closing of our £1.3m funding round! The round, which will help us accelerate our scale-up production plans for our CMC line, was jointly led by Maven Capital Partners and Mercia Ventures with Deeptech Labs, Plug and Play Tech Center joining, alongside select Angel Investors and SFC Capital who followed on from their initial investment. Danilo Di Salvo, CEO and Co-founder of HTMS, said: “Richard Grainger, CTO and Co-Founder, and I saw the potential of advanced thermal composites but were frustrated with the high cost and lack of a UK supply chain. This is a fantastic moment for British manufacturing. We are excited to scale up manufacturing of our world-leading products and look forward to growing our business and championing British innovation.” We'd like to thank Rafi Khan, Shubham Jaipuria, Bethan Bannister, Theodora Preda, Raúl Martín Montero, David Groom and Miles Kirby for their support and confidence they have shown in our vision and our team. 🚀 Last month HTMS were invited to Boom Supersonic's HQ in Denver Colorado. HTMS CEO, Danilo Di Salvo and CTO, Richard Grainger flew over to spend the day with Boom to discuss how our CMC solutions can save weight and increase efficiency for Boom's gas turbine engine, Symphony. Every kg is important for Overture and with four Symphony engines per aircraft, enabling weight loss on the engines becomes crucial. We discussed exciting hot section CMC parts - watch this space! Further to the meeting, we were shown around their new manufacturing facility and had an amazing experience sitting in XB-1. 🙌 We'd like to thank Nick Sheryka and Wesley Schumacher very much for their kind hospitality. We look forward to being part of your journey. Will Larkin | Tim Bailey | Claire Gwilliam | Scotty Whitelaw | Marie Craig | Ofir Eyal | Luke Logan | Jez Holmes OBE | Alex Balderstone | Blake Scholl

✨ A warm HTMS welcome for Marie Craig a.k.a. Maz! ✨ We’re delighted to officially introduce Maz, who joined us in May as our new Administrator. Maz has already made a huge impact in such a short time – bringing organisation, energy, and warmth to everything she does. She’s the kind of person who instinctively looks out for others, and it’s no surprise she’s already become highly regarded by the whole team. From keeping us running smoothly day-to-day to arranging our very first work social (a fantastic evening at Flight Club in Bristol 🎯), Maz has quickly become the heartbeat of HTMS. We’re so pleased to have her on board and can’t wait to see the continued positive difference she’ll bring as we grow. Welcome, Maz – we’re lucky to have you! This time last week, we proudly showcased our new composite EV battery box on the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK and Department for Business and Trade stand at Cenex Expo, alongside our colleagues from Everrati and Raeon. Our design was inspired by the legendary Ford GT40's (new) EV battery box, which Everrati unveiled at the show – this iconic car is a perfect reminder of how heritage and innovation can come together in the transition to electrification. For HTMS, this was an exciting opportunity to demonstrate how our Ceramic Matrix Composites and advanced materials can bring real benefits in safety, weight reduction (over 50%!) and thermal protection for EV applications. A big thank you to APC UK and the DBT for hosting such a strong UK presence, to Scotty and Will for such a great job representing HTMS on the stand, and to everyone who came by to learn more about our technology. We’re looking forward to continuing the conversations with OEMs, Tier 1s and partners who share our vision of enabling safer, lighter, and more efficient EVs.
