At Hull College, we’re committed to providing our students with industry-led learning experiences that inspire creativity and prepare them for successful careers in the performing arts. Yesterday, our Dance and Performing Arts students - including three Year 11s from 14+ College - took part in an industry workshop with professional dancer Sophia Kato, who brought her wealth of experience from training at the Northern Ballet Academy and studying choreography at Leeds Beckett University. Through a powerful contemporary ballet session, Sophia encouraged students to explore storytelling through movement, combining classical technique with contemporary innovation. Reflecting on the session, Sophia said: “I had an amazing workshop with the students - it was such a joy to help them explore and understand the process of contemporary dance, particularly floor work. Their energy and enthusiasm were wonderful to see, and I would be delighted to return to Hull College in the future to teach again and share more fun and creative activities with them.” Workshops like these give our students the opportunity to learn directly from professionals - developing the adaptability, creativity, and technical precision needed to thrive in today’s ever-evolving performing arts industry. #HullCollege #PerformingArts #DanceEducation #IndustryExperience #ContemporaryBallet #CreativeLearning #Hullraisers #TechnicalEducation #JoinTheJourney Debra Gray MBE Ranjit Singh OBE Lynette Leith OBE Gino Tommasi Nicola Dimond Catherine Sykes Deb Millar Liz Ridley Nicki Clarke Matthew Blowman Andy Goudie Michaela Lines Rebecca Howard Adrian Clarke Kirstie Cawley Robin Makey Clare Chaffe Tina Lynam Gemma Hartley Nicholas Marshall Dr Nishadh Wijesinghe Deborah Norman Claire Barnfather Justin Barber Laura Raby-Anderson Gina Hobson Nichola Roe Ben Lydon
