The Business of You! kicked off last week. The first session in this cohort of the HumanBrilliance Leadership Development Programme, and what a start. Week 1 is all about Self-Leadership, and one of my favourite topics: The Power of Contracting. In Transactional Analysis, contracting is about clarity, choice, and responsibility, three things every great leader needs. It’s the process of agreeing how we’ll work together so that everyone feels safe, seen, and empowered to bring their best. We explored three layers of contracting: 🗓️Practical – the logistics, timings, resources (because structure creates safety). 🗣️Professional – how we’ll work, give feedback, and communicate. 🧠Psychological – the foundations of trust, openness, and respect that make real learning and leadership possible. Contracting is one of the most underestimated leadership tools — it prevents misunderstanding, builds accountability, and sets the tone for psychological safety. It’s always a powerful first session. I get to learn about each individual, understand their world, and begin uncovering their unique brilliance. Because self-leadership starts with this simple truth: You can’t lead others well until you’ve learned how to lead yourself — with clarity, safety, and intention.

  • 🧠 Suicide prevention is everyone’s business. Almost 1 in 10 employees are currently experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm (Champion Health). That means in every workplace, colleagues are silently struggling and the cost of not addressing it is too high to ignore. Creating a supportive, stigma-free culture is not just about compliance, it’s about compassion. From open conversations and proactive wellbeing strategies, to crisis plans and postvention support, employers have a powerful role to play in saving lives and fostering healthier workplaces. In our latest blog, we explore: ✨ Why suicide prevention matters in the workplace ✨ Practical steps organisations can take ✨ The importance of culture alongside policies ✨ A personal perspective from our team Read the full article below 👇 #suicideprevention #mentalhealthatwork

✨ A week ago, we gathered for the very first Seen at Saltmarshe. Eight women. Two days. One space that felt rare, intentional, and deeply human. Since then, I’ve been sitting with the words and wisdom that emerged — both in the room and afterwards. Here’s just a glimpse of what participants shared: 💬 “It’s reminded me that my business isn’t holding me back — it’s my enabler. I just needed the space to see it.” 💬 “I felt seen. I’ve never felt so deeply understood.” 💬 “It was a turning point — I’m leaving with clarity I didn’t know I was missing.” 💬 “You helped all our lights shine brighter.” 💬 “It felt like shedding skin — I realised what my next brave step needs to be.” What struck me most was how different each woman’s journey was — yet the common thread was the same: brilliance, ready to be illuminated. And that’s the heart of Seen. It’s not about fixing. It’s about creating the time, space, and understanding to reconnect with your story, your strengths, and the version of you who already knows. We’ll be gathering again. 📍 Seen at Saltmarshe 🗓️ 27–28 November 2025 🌿 Just 8 places available If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it. Come and step into your own brilliance. • Another brilliantly busy month for Gemma Wardell and the Team! Inspiring, giving back and training. Here's a snapshot of what we've been up to... ⭐ Gemma is passionate about giving back to the community! So this month, she volunteered at the Holderness House Trust as part of their Heritage Day, sharing her knowlege of Thomas Ferens and his legacy. ⭐ Gemma joined Rebecca Aspin and Laura Andrew from Stories from Home to deliver Seen at Saltmarshe. A powerful 2-day experience for brilliant women to step away from the noise, reconnect with their story, their strengths, and their innate brilliance — and move forward from a place of deep alignment. The 2 days were really special, here's what Gemma had to say: "So grateful that this is my work, I have the privilege of witnessing the unique brilliance that lives within each of us, but more than that..I get to watching it come alive in this space." ⭐ Our Mental Edge Workshops in partnership with The Deep Business Centre returned after a short summer break. This month we had the pleasure of welcoming Laura Andrew to speak on the theme of "Your Story is Your Strategy". It was a thought-provoking session with some great energy in the room! We return next month with a talk by Amy Gray on financial wellbeing. You can book your FREE ticket here: https://lnkd.in/eTtVxd_4 ⭐ We had a rich and engaging team session with the wonderful humans at Run With It Education Centres in Hull, who do such important work! October...We are ready for you!
