I never imagined I’d be talking publicly about menopause - especially not the kind that arrives early after cancer preventative surgery. When I had surgery last year due to a high cancer risk, it threw me into menopause at a time when my focus was on leading teams, growing a business, and holding my place at the boardroom table. What followed was a journey I wasn’t prepared for - physically, emotionally and professionally. Balancing leadership expectations while navigating the changes in my own body was something no one had ever spoken about. Today, in my role at HW People I help shape and support high-performing teams, and I see first-hand how much leadership is influenced by what’s happening behind the scenes in people’s lives. The more we talk about it, the more space we create for others to lead authentically, without fear or silence. That’s why this conversation with Fiona McKay for The NOPAUSE™ Career Conversations means so much to me. Fiona and I sat down to talk honestly about what it really means to lead during a period of personal change - the identity shifts, the career crossroads and how to stay visible and influential when you don’t always feel like yourself. This isn’t a surface-level conversation about symptoms, it’s about leadership, resilience and redefining strength in the moments that test you most. 🎙️ Menopause Behind Boardroom Doors in The NOPAUSE™ Career Conversations goes live on Friday 17th October 2025 at 10:00am. It’s a conversation for every business leader - not just those in recruitment, its about performance, visibility and the value of honesty in leadership. Dreading the deluge of beige ‘blah’ events this World Menopause Day? The ones that are just a groaning list of supplements and symptoms. I'm not dreading it and here's why. Because The NOPAUSE™ Career Conversations is back. And this year's guest you won't want to miss. I sat down in the recording studio with Louise Ellis, at HW Global, my guest this year. Louise talks about the real moments of menopause in leadership that has shaped her career behind boardroom doors - the career crossroads, the power struggles, the identity hits, and how to rebuild influence when the boardroom expects you to stay unshakeable. This isn’t your average World Menopause Day bucket of beige event. It's a leadership career conversation and business event that's blinding with colour and clarity. No surface-level chat about hot flushes or remedies that do nothing for how you lead, or stay visible when it matters most. Here's the event details: 🎙️Menopause Behind Boardroom Doors in The NOPAUSE™ Career Conversations goes live on Friday 17 October 20205 at 10.00 GMT and you are invited to join us. . It’s incredibly valuable for every business leader - not just those in staffing and recruitment the sector Louise leads in. It's a performance, visibility, and value conversation like no other, that every female leader deserves to see and hear, whatever your sector. Specialist recruiter for leadership roles in Digital Product Teams. Founder and MD of Zebra People. Co-Founder of Now/ Next/ Product

It is with great pride that I’m writing to announce that Zebra People has been awarded B Lab UK! An 18-month journey has now culminated in a mark that reflects who Zebra People always have been in terms of values. We chose B Corp because of the 3 P’s – People, Planet & Profit; these, the bedrock of any B Corp company, are so entrenched in Zebra People’s values that it was enlightening to learn about the framework and how it was precisely what we were missing. Measuring our impact has often been a challenge. B Corp’s framework now gives us a clear benchmark, helping us track our progress, highlight our strengths, and pinpoint where we can do better. It’s been A LOT of work! Much head scratching and looks of bewilderment at points, but we’re here! A HUGE thanks to the team who were instrumental in making this happen for Zebra People - Vicky Sullivan, who project managed the end-to-end process along with Carly Price and Ele Mafham, who were also instrumental in pulling together the required information (and there is a lot!) Of course, like any certification worth its salt, this is the start of our journey; we’re so looking forward to working with like-minded companies and people during our ongoing journey of pushing for a more sustainable and equitable future.
