Powered by purpose: JET founder takes on the Great South Run 2025 Dr Emma Egging, founder of the Jon Egging Trust (JET), is taking on the AJ Bell Great South Run 2025 to raise awareness and support for JET’s life-changing work with young people across Hampshire and beyond. Founded in memory of Red Arrows pilot, Flt Lt Jon Egging, JET uses STEM and aviation as a springboard to support young people to overcome adversity and thrive. As part of the Great South Run’s celebration of 35 Years of Greatness, Emma will run the 10 miles in honour of the courage and determination shown by the young people JET supports every day. She’ll be joined by Jon’s sister, Abi Egging. Also running for Team JET are Bailee Farley and Amy Fallon – two more incredible fundraisers stepping up to help empower the next generation. Thank you to all taking part and good luck! Read more: https://ow.ly/Q1p050XarxO #GreatSouthRun #GSR25 #TeamJET #ChallengeEvents #CharityFundraising

Helping young people achieve
About us
The Jon Egging Trust (JET) was set up in honour of Flt Lt Jon Egging, who tragically lost his life on the 20th August 2011 whilst completing an air display at the Bournemouth Air Festival; he was coming to the end of his first year with the world-famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows. Jon was passionate about inspiring young people through his love of flying and his enthusiasm for teamwork and leadership. The Jon Egging Trust was set up to realise his dream by Jon’s wife Dr Emma Egging, his mother Dawn Egging, childhood friend James Godley and former Red Arrow’s pilot Ben Plank. We have developed an exciting and unique youth engagement programme – Blue Skies – which provides new opportunities to help disadvantaged young people achieve their full potential. Following the huge success of our pilot Blue Skies project in Lincolnshire in 2012, JET now works in nine regions across the U.K.: Lincolnshire, East Anglia, Dorset, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, North Wales, Cornwall and the West Midlands. We have also developed a second youth engagement initiative: Inspirational Outreach. We deliver both schemes in conjunction with our partners from the worlds of aerospace and STEM. The Jon Egging Trust believes that all young people should have the opportunity to realise their potential and be the best they can be.

Inspiring the next generation in Cornwall This spring, our Blue Skies 1 cohorts from Poltair School, Helston Community College and Camborne Science and International Academy in Cornwall took learning beyond the classroom with JET Bronze Partner Celtic Sea Power. From building wind turbines out of beach materials, to tackling blindfolded teamwork challenges, to testing their resilience in strategic games, the Year 8 students showed creativity, problem-solving and collaboration. At JET, we believe in giving young people experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and connect classroom learning to the real world of work and sustainability. A huge thank you to Olaf and the Celtic Sea Power team for hosting such inspiring sessions. We’re looking for more delivery partners in Cornwall so if your company is in the STEM or aerospace sector, or if you're part of an exceptional local organisation who would like to offer support and expertise to the next generation, we’d love to hear from you! We can’t believe it’s been just over two weeks since our JETRiders took to the tarmac in aid of the Jon Egging Trust! 🚲 We’re delighted to announce that JETRide 2025 raised more than £31,000 for JET – with more funds still to come! That’s the equivalent of 688 hours of support for our young people on our three-year Blue Skies programme. 🎉 We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who offered their time and support to put on another rewarding JETRide, especially our incredible lead sponsors Northrop Grumman and co-sponsors MBDA. Our feedstations wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of food donations, and our volunteers to greet riders with a smile (and a banana!) as they refuelled. So, a big thank you to Samworth Brothers, Waitrose & Partners, Walkers Crisps UK, Asda, Morrisons and Lincolnshire Co-op for copious amounts of sustenance to get our riders to the finish line. Finally, we just couldn’t do it without the generous and brilliant support from all of our volunteers, particularly: Dunc Mason & Graham Pemberton for their dedication and knowledge throughout the year, Air Cdre John Lyle for being an exceptional RAF JETRide Champion, Wg Cdr Matthew Thornton for allowing us to use the fantastic RAF Cranwell as our base, Avie Mason and her array of delicious cakes, Graeme Whitworth for capturing the day so brilliantly, Acorn Medical for their skills and humour, Barnes Bikes for their mechanical support, Eat midlands University Air Squadron for their emergency team, marshalling and supporting at the HQ and 2160 RAF Air Cadet Squadron offering heaps of energy at the finish line to celebrate our riders, and of course the mighty Battle of Britain Memorial Flight for our epic Lancaster flypast! Now… who will we see again next year? #JETRide25 #PedalWithPurpose #CharityCycling #CycleEventLincolnshire #YouthCharity #BlueSkies
