A leading player in the smaller buy-out market, Key Capital Partners (Key), is one of only a few Private Equity (PE) firms specialising in working with entrepreneurial businesses worth between £5m and £50m. With offices in Leeds and London, it has one of the most experienced investment teams in the UK and offers national coverage. Key has a strong track record of backing high growth SMEs through management buy-outs, equity release and development capital deals. With over £140m under management Key is seeking to invest equity sums of between £4m and £15m in profitable, dynamic businesses where there is the opportunity to double the profits of the business over a three to five year period. Since launching its first fund in 2007, Key has invested a total of £100m in over 20 businesses across a variety of sectors from school catering and recruitment to nursing care and online retail. It has successfully exited 18 of these businesses including the secondary buy-out of Sparta, a London-based IT training academy in 2020; the AIM IPO of CMO.Stores in 2021; and the sale with reinvestment in ed-tech company, Avantis in 2022. Key is owned and managed by its five partners who also co-invest in the funds and who make up the investment committee. With a flat reporting structure, it is able to make investment decisions swiftly and works closely with the management teams of its investee companies to deliver their ambitions for their business.     Happy #WorldEVDay! Today we celebrate the global shift towards cleaner, smarter mobility and the UK is making impressive strides. Over 1.6 million fully electric cars are now on UK roads, making up 4.78% of the total car parc. That’s a fourfold increase since 2021. In 2025 alone, more than 276,000 new BEVs have been registered so far, accounting for 21.9% of all new car sales. Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) add another 10.9%, bringing plug-in vehicles to over 32% of the new car market. The UK now boasts over 84,000 public EV charge points across nearly 42,000 locations, a 410% increase since 2020. The government aims to hit 300,000 charge points by 2030, backed by billions in public and private investment. On the European stage, the UK ranks second in total electrified vehicle registrations, with 1.6 million BEVs and 800,000 PHEVs, trailing only Germany.
