📣 Leadership changes and AI's expanding reach were again prevalent in the UK technology market last week, as the sector grappled with questions about innovation, accountability and the future of work. Here's a preview of what our analysts covered last week: 🔷 Deloitte Australia's AI mishap became the industry's cautionary tale after the firm refunded part of its AU$440,000 fee for delivering a government report filled with AI hallucinations. The incident underscored the critical importance of experienced human oversight in an era where distinguishing hype from enterprise readiness has become increasingly difficult. 🔷 Cyril Malargé departed Sopra Steria after 23 years to become CEO of ALTEN GROUP LLC from January 2026. Alten, which acquired Methods Group in 2022 and Worldgrid from Atos in 2024, reported a 5.6% decline in like-for-like revenues in H1 2025. Malargé will undoubtedly hope to turn this around following his appointment. 🔷 The King's Trust released research suggesting AI could reshape 55% of jobs held by young people, with 10% at risk of complete displacement. The research estimates AI could add £16bn to the UK economy through productivity gains but potentially cost £12bn through job losses. 🔷 Google launched Gemini Enterprise, combining AI agents, enterprise data connections and governance controls. Virgin Voyages deployed over 50 AI agents on the platform, reducing campaign creation time by an estimated 40% and contributing to a 28% sales increase in July, year-on-year. 🔷 Liberata secured a 10-year contract extension with North Somerset Council, marking 30 years of partnership since 1995. The renewal demonstrates the value of institutional knowledge in local government procurement, where councils increasingly favour continuity over competitive switching for mission-critical functions. 🔷 Fujitsu and NVIDIA expanded their collaboration to co-develop industry-tailored AI infrastructure integrating AI agents for sectors including healthcare and manufacturing. The partnership will combine Fujitsu's MONAKA CPU series with Nvidia GPUs using NVLink Fusion technology, designed to overcome limitations of general-purpose computing systems through "AI Precision" approaches. £870K in duplicate payments recovered, and we’re not stopping there. We’ve been working with the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust to help them find and recover hidden value in their supplier payments. So far, we’ve helped them recover over £870K in duplicate payments. Money that can now be reinvested back into the Trust’s budgets. This is an ongoing project, and we continue to work together to strengthen processes and unlock more value. Duplicate payments are one of those issues that often go unnoticed until someone takes a closer look. In our latest blog, we explore why duplicate payments happen, how they can be missed by existing controls, and the scale of the hidden cost facing NHS finance teams. We also share insight into how Trusts (and other organisations) can identify and recover funds without adding extra pressure to internal teams. If you’re responsible for finance resilience or audit, this is one you’ll want to read.
