🏆4 Years Ago Today — MCD Capital was born. Today, we find ourselves in New York City, the Big Apple 🍎 — attended the Greenwich Economic Forum, packed with back-to-back meetings, great conversations, hoping to bring back strong learnings! (Shoutout to Oraclum Capital (ORCA) Vuk Vukovic Ayushman Nath for inviting us!) 🍕From a crusty pizzeria, to co-working spaces fighting over meeting rooms, to now having our own offices in the West End of London Town — if you had told us back in 2021 that we’d be here today, none of us would have believed you. I’m extremely proud of this mighty team. We’ve gone through thick and thin together — from nothing to something real. Countless sleepless nights, endless debates, pivots, lessons, and hundreds of micro-wins that compounded into where we stand today: approaching our inflection point as a firm. But the mission continues. We stay hungry, we stay humble — fully aware that we’re still a very small fish in a monumental sea. There’s still much more to do. We’re not there yet. A huge thank you to my mentor, the Captain Tim Bousser, the first person who didn’t kick us out of the meeting room back then and grew us to where we are today. This week we visited Warwick, UCL, King’s College, and Imperial, meeting students, societies, and faculty to talk about the 2025 UK Investment Competition. Four campuses. Hundreds of conversations. And one clear message: the system needs to change. We learnt a lot by speaking directly with the people who live this reality: the students trying to break into finance, the societies supporting them, and the faculty guiding them. The level of interest and engagement we received was incredible; it gives us both momentum and confidence in what we’re building. But more importantly, it confirmed the pain point we set out to solve. Today’s recruitment process is tougher and more detached than ever. Applications feel distant. Selection feels impersonal. And too often, potential goes unseen. The UK Investment Competition was created to challenge that. To give students a stage where skill, performance, and resilience can be shown, not just described. A system where merit is visible, and where the next generation of talent can truly stand out.

Spent the day in Zurich at the UMushroom HQ locking in the final details for something that I believe will completely change how recruitment (in finance) works. On October 10th, we launch the 2025 UK Investment Competition: ➡️ 1,000+ students ➡️ Top 15 UK universities ➡️ 8–10 weeks of live portfolio building ➡️ In-person final event in London (5th December) ➡️ Paid summer internships for the very best (we'll announce our recruiting partners in the coming weeks) Here’s the truth: the old recruitment model is broken. CVs, AI filters, and endless rounds of interviews do little to show what someone is really capable of. The best talent often slips through the cracks. We’re flipping the script. Instead of testing how well you can navigate a filtering system, we’re giving students a stage to show their skills in real time. Firms will see performance, potential, and resilience play out live rather than on a piece of paper. At MCD Edu and UMushroom we don't think of this as just a competition. It’s the future of how talent and opportunity will meet in an increasingly noisy system. Honored to have been the opening panelist at HMF's With Intelligence EU Emerging Manager Summit, representing MCD Capital Ltd.
