Mental health affects us all, and awareness is growing about its impact in the workplace. With 1 in 4 people facing mental health challenges [1], understanding and support are crucial. Finance in particular is one of the most stressful sectors to work in. Julian’s experience of prioritising his mental health and becoming a Mental Health First Aider has given him the ability to support those around him. Read Julian's story on how MHFA® training has made him more compassionate and reflective, not just towards others, but himself too. ➡️ https://brnw.ch/21wWFYp [1] Mental health facts and statistics 2023 #AssociationOfMentalHealthFirstAiders #AOMHFA #MentalHealthFirstAid #MentalHealthTraining (Image description: Scene from a gym with a pair of dumbbells and trainers on the floor. We’re a social enterprise that offers expert guidance and training to support mental health.
About us
We are Mental Health First Aid England. We’re a social enterprise with a vision to improve the mental health of the nation. Our evidence-based training gives people tools to support themselves and each other, so everyone can talk about mental health and seek help when needed. Most adults spend at least a third of their time at work, so we start there to change how society deals with mental health now and in the future. Over the last decade, we’ve provided expert consultancy and training to over 20,000 workplaces. We want mentally healthy workplaces for all. We campaign for equality between mental and physical health in the workplace. We advocate a whole organisation approach and lead by example. As a social enterprise, we reinvest our profits to support the next generation. We offer free and discounted training to those in the sports and recreation sectors working with young people. Together, let’s create a society where everyone’s mental health matters.

“Most of us spend a third of our lives at work. Yet too often, workplace mental health support is inconsistent and reactive. Poor mental health costs UK employers an estimated £51 billion each year. Investing in mental health isn’t a ‘nice to have’ – it’s a business imperative.” Our Chief Executive, Sarah McIntosh, spoke to Emerging Risks Media about why mental health is a bottom-line issue for businesses and why setting the standard for workplace mental health is essential to deliver proactive, consistent support that helps both employees and organisations thrive. 💬 “Workplaces have the power to transform the nation’s mental health. These standards are about setting a new benchmark. Not box-ticking, but embedding prevention, early intervention, and culture change into every workplace.” Too often, mental health at work is treated as reactive or optional, but it doesn’t have to be. MHFA England®’s Chief Executive, Sarah McIntosh, explains to Business Quarter why creating proactive, consistent mental health support isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s business-critical. There is more mental health training available than ever before. This can only be a good thing 👍 It shows that as a nation we’re progressively reducing the stigma of mental health 🧠💚 However, it’s important that training is safe, rigorously tested, and driven by the latest research. The RSPH Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid is the only qualification of its kind to be endorsed and supported by Royal Society for Public Health, the world’s oldest public health body. If you have Mental Health First Aiders trained in your workplace, click here to learn more about strengthening their MHFA® training with a qualification 🔗 https://brnw.ch/21wWDPn #MentalHealthFirstAid #MentalHealthQualification #WorkplaceWellbeing #EmployeeWellbeing #MentalHealthSkills (Image description. One conversation can change everything 💬 Across England, thousands of MHFAiders® are quietly making a huge difference in supporting colleagues, starting conversations about mental health, and offering support that can truly change lives. Their work is often unseen, but the impact is measurable: over 800,000 trained MHFAiders, with 90% actively using their skills at work and 88% believing they save lives. And yet, unlike giving physical first aid, their role is still underappreciated, even though they help shape workplaces and communities where mental health is valued, stigma is reduced, and support is accessible to everyone. MHFAider Day on Wednesday 12 November is a chance to recognise their dedication and reflect on how every workplace can foster a culture where mental health matters as much as physical health. 🔗 Learn more about the MHFAider community and their ongoing work here: https://brnw.ch/21wWDDF (Image description: A group of three people talking in a office wearing blue lanyards - overlaid are the words: CEO Blog - Why we're launching MHFAider Day) #MHFAiderDay #MentalHealthLeadership #WorkplaceWellbeing #MentalHealthCulture #MHFAEngland #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceSupport #MentalHealthAtWork
