We’re proud to have supported the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the successful delivery of a new £27M base at Beacon Barracks, Stafford, the new home of NATO (280) Signal Squadron. Working in partnership with Henry Brothers Ltd and Pick Everard, our team provided multidisciplinary consultancy and design services. The result is a state of the art, purpose-built facility that meets both MOD standards and NATO’s operational requirements. Designed with sustainability at the core, the two-storey facility includes rooftop solar panels, air source heating, rainwater harvesting systems and an on-site attenuation pond. The project has achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating under the Defence Related Environmental Assessment Methodology (DREAM) and is contributing to the MOD’s long-term net-zero ambitions. Well done to everyone who worked on this project! Read more about our work on this project: https://mottm.ac/47CngN

Trust is the true engine of #AUKUS. Australia, the UK and the US have the ambition to build world-class naval capability, but without trust between governments, industry and the public, progress will stall. Our defence and security leader for Australia, Adrian Garnero, introduces the 8C Framework: a practical framework to continue to build trust and deliver sovereign strength through confidence, coordination and credibility. Introducing the Nature Design Guide – a practical, industry-led resource created to help shape a Country-centred approach to nature-based design in the Australian built environment. Collaboratively developed, the guide offers actionable nature-based solutions to embed nature within single building and precinct scale projects. Our team co-authored the Land section of the guide, which provides guidance on how to protect, regenerate and restore natural landforms and soil health, and introduce urban greening to connect to surrounding landscapes. This section recognises that every project presents an opportunity to regenerate land, restore ecological function and reconnect people with place. Congratulations to Watercare Services Limited on the official opening of a new wastewater treatment plant at Snells Beach in Auckland, New Zealand. We’re proud to have played a central role in the project that is set to transform wastewater services for the growing communities in Warkworth, Snells Beach and Algies Bay. We provided end-to-end design and construction monitoring services, and delivered multidisciplinary engineering across civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, architectural and process domains. Our key contributions included: 💧 Leading the detailed design and commissioning of a 5ML/day advanced membrane bioreactor (MBR) facility, incorporating biological nutrient removal and advanced control systems. 🏗️ Implementing value engineering measures to optimise greenhouse gas emissions and construction. 🌳 Providing technical support throughout construction and commissioning to deliver a high-quality asset. When you bring together industry leaders, real stories and a shared passion for building an inclusive future, something powerful happens. Our recent Stand Tall: Women in Advisory panel was on 'Infrastructure, sustainable growth and women in leadership', hosted in our London office. It sparked meaningful conversations on leadership, legacy and building a more inclusive, sustainable future. Thanks to Danielle Y. and Maria King for putting the event together. We also want to thank the inspiring panellists, Maria Seco from Transport for London, Sangeeta Vishwanath from Heathrow and lawyer and chartered civil engineer Ann Metherall with facilitation by the brilliant Mitch Mitchell CB MBE. We believe inclusive spaces create stronger outcomes. This event was a reminder that progress is about courage, collaboration and keeping each other accountable. What’s one piece of advice or insight you’ve gained from a panel or event that’s stayed with you? Photography: Elyse Marks

Our continued growth in the buildings market is underpinned by our technical knowledge, breadth and depth of experience and the established relationships that have been built with clients and partners over decades of collaboration. That’s what Mark Ewen, our managing director for buildings in the UK and Europe, explores in a new interview explaining why the way we deliver is just as important as what we deliver. It’s an approach that’s guided our work on iconic projects across the globe. In the article Mark explores why it will continue to guide us as we keep growing our major buildings portfolio. https://mottm.ac/47mEnmp
