The NUJ has expressed its grave concern over the safety of journalists detained by Israeli authorities following the interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla. Laura Davison, NUJ general secretary, said: “We call on Israeli authorities to respect the rights of journalists and ensure the safety of those detained during the interception. The NUJ has condemned plans announced today by STV to make 60 redundancies and significant changes to coverage amid financial losses. Every day NUJ officials deal with freelance journalists suffering real hardship because of their unfair treatment by news platforms.
