Governance isn’t just about compliance - it’s about confidence. Our new Governance Trends Report analyses data from 800+ respondents across 70 charities, revealing how boards are evolving in 2025. Here are some of the headlines: 🔹Integrity and risk control top the charts - but EDI and board effectiveness are still catching up. 🔹Trustees tend to see governance through rosier glasses than staff. 🔹The most effective organisations? Those where trustees and staff see the world the same way. These insights show that the strength of a board isn’t measured by its paperwork - it’s measured by its people, culture, and shared purpose. Join us on Tuesday 4 November for a deep dive into the findings at our Governance Trends Report Event, in partnership with Zurich UK. We’ll explore how culture and integrity shape risk, and what good governance will mean in the years ahead. At the Labour Party Conference last month, we championed the vital role Civil Society has in shaping the future of the country, talking to MPs, civil servants, policy makers and members to spotlight the incredible work happening across our sector. We encouraged people to sign our pledge wall, which proved hugely popular, receiving more signatures than we can count, each marking a commitment to work with civil society to create real, lasting change. We were also delighted to have several member organisations join us on our stand, promoting the vital work they are doing and creating useful connections. Watch our reel for a taste of what was a fantastic three days.

NCVO reposted this
I was quoted on the front of the Guardian today, after signing a letter alongside more than 160 civil society leaders calling on the Prime Minister and his cabinet to support charities that are being targeted by far-right politicians and activists seeking to stoke division for political gain in local communities. Thank you to Equally Ours for coordinating. For charities that need immediate support and solidarity - NCVO has got you. We're running listening forums next week to bring people together concerned about this, alongside our training and practical support on safeguarding. Today's story in The Guardian reveals the deeply worrying impact of the increasingly toxic rhetoric around immigration and marginalised communities. It's leading to threats and abuse targeted at charities, their staff and volunteers. This is not just rhetoric – it's causing real harm to civil society organisations across the country. We have signed the Equally Ours letter to the Prime Minister urging him to challenge this. As our Executive Director, Saskia Konynenburg, says in the piece: "Charities are being targeted because of what they stand for and who they support." This is unacceptable. Charities must be able to carry out their vital work without fear or intimidation. Read her full quote below. https://lnkd.in/eEFCNkge
