Crops, farms and fishing fleets have been destroyed. More than half of households in #Gaza have been forced to sell their clothes to afford food. Starvation is widespread, and children and families are dying from hunger. We demand a #RedLineForGaza. Share NOW 📢

A global movement of people who won't live with poverty.
About us
Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of dedicated people fighting poverty - together. Oxfam fights poverty in three ways: Campaigning, Development and Emergency Response. Campaigning for change: Poverty isn’t just about lack of resources. In a wealthy world it’s about bad decisions made by powerful people. Oxfam campaigns hard, putting pressure on leaders for real lasting change. Development work: Poor people can take control, solve their own problems, and rely on themselves – with the right support. Fighting poverty, we fund long-term work worldwide. Emergency response: People need help in an emergency – fast. We save lives, swiftly delivering aid, support and protection; and we help people prepare for future crises. Oxfam also has around 670 shops in the UK and an online shop selling over 100,000 volunteer-listed second-hand clothes, books, music and collectables, plus Fairtrade and ethical gifts: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop Interested in working for Oxfam? Across the world, there is growing consensus that GDP falls short as the primary metric for measuring social and economic progress. It excludes women's unpaid care and domestic work and does not account for inequality or the impact of economic activities on environment, gender justice and human rights. But how should an alternative metric be designed? As a new UN High Level Expert Group begins its work to develop a set of metrics beyond GDP, it is critical that their work is guided by the voices of feminist, indigenous peoples’ and movements in the Global South. In 2024, we invited leading feminist thinkers from around the world to share perspectives on why we must move beyond GDP and what alternative metrics need to address. As well as the illustrators Vidushi Yadav and Medhavini Yadav to capture feminist visions for a world freed from the relentless pursuit of GDP growth. Over the next few weeks, we will reshare the different insights from the paper. First up, we share some some snippets of wisdom from Natalia Quiroga Diaz, a feminist scholar from Colombia. Tell us, what is your Red Line? Killing children. Using starvation as a weapon of war. Targeting aid workers. Illegally blockading aid. Shooting civilians queuing for food. These are all RED LINES. And many more have been crossed by the government of Israel. Together we demand a #RedLineForGaza. Join our red line digital mosaic: https://lnkd.in/ebTQ7QjV
