To mark Anti Slavery Week we’ve been taking part in training and toolbox talks with colleagues from the RSK Group. From understanding how to spot the signs of modern slavery to hearing more about RSK Group’s human rights programme, it was interesting to find out how we can play our part in supporting vulnerable people in our communities. #AntiSlaveryWeek #AntiSlaveryWeek2025 #EndModernSlavery

Yesterday we had brekkie and a blether while everyone was in the office to mark World Mental Health Day. We discussed the need to end mental health stigma and discrimination in the workplace, and spoke openly about how we can support each other more and help create more supportive environments. We’re also looking forward to attending a series of RSK Wellbeing webinars covering a wide range of related topics. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WorldMentalHealthDay2025

Their submissions highlighted a strong commitment to: ‣ Innovative contributions beyond traditional roles ‣ Positive influence inside and outside the sector ‣ Unique approaches to problem-solving ‣ Broad and lasting impact on the industry ‣ And much more Thank-you to our category sponsor, CIBSE Patrons, and to our headline sponsor, Harvey Group PLC, for their support! 📣 Today, we are featuring Sophie Sibley Sophie is a multidisciplinary engineer whose work exemplifies the integration of technical excellence, environmental insight, and creative problem-solving across complex and diverse projects. With a foundation in Environmental Sciences and an MSc in Engineering, she has pioneered solutions that span sectors and challenge conventional boundaries. Notable achievements include designing a heat network strategy for a major university that cut emissions by 80%, modelling a fully off-grid electrification solution for a 35-vehicle refuse fleet, and delivering a £108k multi-site decarbonisation audit covering 120 police buildings, creating long-term social and environmental value. Her holistic approach combines environmental science, mechanical systems, and socio-economic considerations, exemplified in innovative projects such as solar installations designed to allow sheep grazing beneath panels, blending renewable energy with agricultural sustainability. Beyond project delivery, Sophie champions knowledge sharing and professional development, training colleagues in tools like SolarEdge Designer and energyPRO, and developing the Technoeconomic Assessment Model to support district heating feasibility studies. She actively promotes climate-resilient engineering as Secretary of CIBSE’s Resilient Cities group and engages in outreach through workshops and interactive energy games for schools, fostering diversity and inclusion in the profession. Recognised for her leadership, visibility, and commitment to reshaping expectations of engineering, Sophie balances strategic vision with practical impact, mentoring teams, advancing decarbonisation, and inspiring future engineers.
