Greater Anglia enters public ownership as one of the UK’s best performing train operators Last Sunday, Greater Anglia entered public ownership in exceptional shape - as the UK’s most punctual and most awarded operator. Under Transport UK’s leadership, Greater Anglia has delivered record-breaking performance, replaced its entire fleet with new, more accessible trains, and built partnerships that connect communities and power local economies across the East of England. The Purpose Coalition Chair, Rt Hon. Justine Greening, said: “Greater Anglia’s track record underlines how its investment and performance have delivered real results for communities and businesses across the East of England. As it enters a new phase under public ownership, Greater Anglia is setting a high bar for what a strategic, purpose-driven railway can accomplish: driving opportunity, connecting communities and helping to power local and regional economies.” Greater Anglia’s story shows what happens when purpose and performance go hand in hand - a blueprint for how transport can unlock opportunity across the country. The Purpose Coalition reposted this
Tomorrow is Work Menopause Day. And I’m not just marking it—I’m making it matter. Back in September, I sat on stage at the Labour Party Conference and spoke about menopause. Not as a medical moment, but as a workplace reality. A leadership opportunity. A human experience that deserves visibility, respect, and action. I shared what it means to lead with kindness when someone’s confidence is wobbling. To build systems that flex for fluctuating energy. To make menopause part of the everyday—not a whispered exception. And I wasn’t alone. At our Purpose Coalition event, I stood alongside brilliant colleagues who are still working, still leading, still thriving through menopause. We shared stories, swapped strategies, and made one thing clear: menopause isn’t a career cliff. It’s a chapter that deserves support, celebration, and strength. This year’s theme—Lifestyle Medicine—reminds us that small, everyday choices can shape wellbeing. But let’s go further. Let’s make workplace culture part of that medicine. Let’s build environments where menopause isn’t just accommodated—it’s understood, anticipated, and championed. So tomorrow, I’ll be talking about menopause again. In meetings, in messages, in moments of quiet advocacy. Because every conversation chips away at stigma. Every policy shift makes space. And every visible leader makes it easier for someone else to say, “Me too.” Let’s keep making menopause visible. At work. In leadership. In legacy. #WorkMenopauseDay #MenopauseMatters #KindnessIsStrength #VisibleLeadership #PurposeCoalition #StillWorking #LabourPartyConference #EverydayImpact

Ahead of World Menopause Day tomorrow, we marked World Menopause Month with a Westminster roundtable led by Carolyn Harris MP, Chair of the APPG on Menopause. Bringing together partners from across transport, higher education, health, justice, construction, law and professional services, the discussion focused on practical, real-world steps to make workplaces fairer and more supportive for women experiencing menopause. Carolyn Harris MP opened the session with a reminder that menopause is not a niche issue - it’s a mainstream workplace and wellbeing matter: “Menopause isn’t ‘special’ - it’s normal. What it deserves is respect.” Five clear takeaways for employers emerged: → Fix the workplace, not the woman. Rethink schedules, kit, uniforms and facilities — not just awareness materials. → Train the right people. Equip line managers, OH teams and mental-health first aiders with menopause-specific training. → Make support easy to use. Menopause champions, private escalation routes and simple tools normalise help-seeking. → Get the basics right. Inclusive PPE, sanitary products in cubicles, and flexible breaks make a difference. → Measure what matters. Track retention, absence and grievance data for women aged 40–60. From inclusive PPE and clinical access to the power of allyship, the message was clear: when workplaces get menopause right, they keep skills, leadership and loyalty - a win for people and productivity. This week in Parliament, we were proud to launch Place, Partners, Progress: The Breaking Down Barriers Impact Report 2025 with E.ON UK — our second collaboration charting how purpose-led business can accelerate the UK’s clean energy transition. The report highlights how E.ON, E.ON Next, E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions and npower Business Solutions are driving impact through purpose — combining affordability support for 80,000 households with long-term investment in green infrastructure, skills, and local partnerships. From pioneering place-based partnerships in Coventry and Sheffield to campaigning for a permanent Social Tariff, E.ON is showing how business can turn purpose into systemic change — building resilience, inclusion and opportunity for every postcode. 💡 Read more about Place, Partners, Progress and how purpose-led partnerships are shaping a fairer, cleaner energy future: https://lnkd.in/dmX9-ngR #PurposeDrivenBusiness #CleanEnergy #SocialImpact #BreakingDownBarriers #FairerFuture #PurposeGoals #NetZeroUK #Sustainability #PartnershipsForProgress #LeadingWithPurpose

Most work experience still depends on who your parents know. That’s the uncomfortable truth. If you want to work at a top company, the easiest way is through family or friends. E.ON UK knows this. And they’re working to change it. In a recent Purpose Lab session, E.ON sat down with students to get real about work experience. → Who actually gets it → What makes it meaningful → How to scale it fairly Here’s what students said: → Make placements easy to find - not hidden in corporate pages → Blend online and in-person - don’t force people to choose → Focus on real tasks - not coffee runs and shadowing → Include mentorship, feedback, and a clear outcome Some students shared horror stories. They were thrown into companies, given nothing to do, and left with nothing to show for it. Others had amazing experiences that built confidence and skills. The difference? Whether someone cared enough to build a proper experience. E.ON listened. They’re already exploring ways to: → Break the friends-and-family pipeline → Launch one page with all early career routes → Use short online modules to match people to relevant site visits → Build experiences that lead to real CV outcomes It’s not a finished product. But it’s moving in the right direction - powered by students, not just strategy slides. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eNEE8S_s

In partnership with One Retail, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, and Noviniti, the new ground floor brings together two much-loved high street brands and our in-house restaurant, The Place.
