Raising Up Liverpool’s Future 🌟 On Wednesday, our Director, Mark Lawler, had the privilege of attending Raise Up – an incredible event for the Liverpool City Region, hosted at the vibrant BOXPARK. Raise Up brought together around 300 young people with local businesses, creating a unique space for direct conversations and career opportunities. Watching young people connect with potential pathways in real time was truly inspiring, highlighting the profound impact of opportunity. The day featured an outstanding lineup of speakers addressing the challenge of social mobility, including: Sara Lawton (Pgcert) – Founder of Raise Up & Rise Framework Ashley John-Baptiste – Broadcaster & Author Jake Mills – Chasing the Stigma Sara Davies MBE – Dragons’ Den Jamie Carragher – Chair, Football for Change We also heard from Carl Wong, a Baltic success story, who shared his journey from a council house to a multi million pound business exit, truly inspiring! A huge thank you to everyone who shared their insights, passion, and inspiration with both businesses and young people. Events like this make a tangible difference and should definitely be annual fixtures in the calendar! #RaiseUp #SocialMobility #LiverpoolCityRegion #Inspiration #Opportunity #VerdeServices #Events

An impactful and important day today at BOXPARK for the Raise Up summit. We heard from fantastic speakers throughout the day - from apprentices just starting out in their journeys, to successful entrepreneurs. It was especially inspiring to hear from Sara Davies MBE, who offered incredible advice to the audience. What stood out to me was the energy in the room. You could feel how much it meant for young people to connect directly with real businesses, ask questions, and start to picture a future for themselves in their chosen industries. A brilliant, well-organised event doing great things for both young people and employers alike. On the day we announced that Weightmans had been ranked 15th in the The Social Mobility Foundation’s employer index 2025, I am super proud that we were the headline sponsor at Raise Up. Truly inspiring to speak to the 600 young people and employers in the room and to interview Sara Davies MBE covering authenticity, imposter syndrome, the importance of sponsors and mentors, and the fact you can achieve anything if you have the drive, energy, enthusiasm and ambition. Because talent is everywhere, we #SeethePossibility and want to ensure the opportunities are available too to help everyone realise their potential. An amazing day on all counts. Now to win the Large Business of the Year Award at the NW Business Desk Awards ……..

We were so proud to be in attendance at the very first Raise Up event today, held at BOXPARK, today. Bringing employers and organisations together with young people in one (very big) room, to explore ways to future proof themselves and enter employment. With keynote speakers, panel discussions and carousel spotlights, this event had it all. Well done to the team at Thrive Careers Hub for bringing it all together! 🤳🏻 iPhone 15 Pro

Feeling inspired after attending the Raise Up Summit in Liverpool! Huge thanks to the Raise Up team for creating such a powerful and hopeful event. 🙌 A key highlight for me was the insight into Gen Z, their view on employment, what they look for from their employers and some of the blockers they are currently facing. I managed to speak to a number of students who attended for the afternoon sessions and was surprised that the impact from COVID is still being felt. A simple example being that its still taking 3+ months to get a driving test booked in and there is a massive back log still, preventing people from looking at jobs that are not easily accessible via public transport. If you attended too, I’d love to hear what resonated most with you! 👉 www.raise-up.co.uk #RaiseUp #SocialMobility #YouthEmpowerment #Leadership #Inclusion #FutureTalent #CareerAccess

This post about today’s Raise Up events could tell you about how inspiring it was… how amazing the line up was… about all the nuggets of wisdom that I’ve come away with… Actually - as great as all of that was, today’s event was about the people not on the stage. It was about the young people who were brave and hopeful enough to turn up to room full of strangers. I really hope I get to see more of those lovely people I met. I also got to reconnect with some absolute gems who share my passion for seeing people thrive and who are willing to put the work in to make futures better. Well done to everyone involved, to Sara Lawton (Pgcert) and Daniel Ross and everyone at Thrive Careers Hub for the amazing work that you do. You absolutely smashed out the park. Let this be the first of many because the energy and the potential in the room was palpable.

Well… I think you’ve all said it better than I ever could! Raise Up - incredibly proud to be part of this movement and to work for Thrive Careers Hub. So much hard work from Sara Lawton (Pgcert) and Daniel Ross has gone into this because they genuinely care about the young people in our city region and this passion is replicated within us in all the work we do at Thrive Careers Hub to raise aspirations and drive opportunities for some of the hardest to help, most vulnerable young people. Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday - I was spoilt with lots of hugs! And the continued support from sponsors and partners. For anyone wanting to maintain momentum of the day, I would love to chat over a coffee about how together we could support young people at Thrive Careers Hub. I’ve had a few messages already and will get back to you. In the meantime, the team will be attending the #MIBAwards this evening at the Titanic Hotel as we have been nominated in the CIC category. Wish us luck!
