You may remember this majestic vessel from when we wrote about it in 2021, after it had a Raspberry Pi-based makeover to become a fully automated pleasure craft. Sfera Labs’ Ulderico Arcidiaco has now upgraded the 63-year-old Norwegian tug to take advantage of both Raspberry Pi 5 and Compute Module 5. Upgrading the IPMS to more powerful Compute Module 5-based Strato Pi Max XL units significantly improved its efficiency and failover support. (Bottom left image). We’re working hard to reduce our carbon emissions and, where possible, to reach net zero. We moved into our new 28,000 sq ft headquarters in December 2023, and have since introduced several measures both to lower our emissions and to streamline reporting them. Built in 2008, the site remains in good condition; being a big glass box, it even benefits from natural heating.
