GPAP is our map for a resilient future It looks a bit like Google Maps, but instead of showing traffic, it reveals where floods, droughts, and poor water quality pose the greatest risks across the UK, and where restoring Nature can have the biggest impact. From rivers to peatlands, coastlines to catchments, GPAP helps us see risk before it becomes damage, guiding investment to where it protects people, places, and portfolios. Data meets Nature. #NatureAsInfrastructure #WaterRisk #ResilienceThroughNature #SustainableFinance

With over £33 trillion of global value linked to Nature (World Economic Forum), Kana Earth has published Natural Capital: A Guide for Institutional Investors. This is a practical framework to help asset owners integrate Nature into portfolios. Natural capital is fast becoming a strategic allocation offering diversification, resilience, and measurable Nature-positive outcomes. We were really pleased to work with peers at Gresham House and Aberdeen to create this guide. Today, we joined LGPS asset owners and consultants to explore how to access and scale this opportunity. Further insights will follow at the Ecosystems Knowledge Network Nature Finance UK Conference in November. 📘 Read the guide: https://lnkd.in/gdxy7qrG

A new partnership to accelerate Nature restoration across the UK. We are pleased to announce our partnership with RESTORE - bringing institutional investments to ecological expertise to build a more resilient, Nature-positive economy. Our CEO, Robert Gardner said: “Benedict and his team bring unparalleled knowledge and practical skill to restoring ecosystems at scale. By partnering with RESTORE, we’re combining that expertise with our investment approach to help make the UK the fastest recovering Nature country in the world.” The partnership begins with a £1 million investment to fund large-scale restoration and unlock long-term value for people, planet, and portfolios.
We’re proud to announce a landmark partnership between Rebalance Earth and RESTORE Rebalance Earth’s cornerstone fund, backed by West Yorkshire Pension Fund, is enabling Restore to expand England’s largest investible natural capital portfolio of rewilding sites. This new investment represents a wider commitment to provide further funding for restoration projects, removing one of the biggest barriers for landowners - the lack of upfront funding. With capital now available to cover set-up costs, ecological baselining, management plans and full project delivery, restoration can move forward at pace and scale. Listen to Anne Reaney and Gil Martin describing what this means for both organisations. The urgency is clear: 🌱 Damage to the natural environment could shrink UK GDP by 12% in the years ahead. 💧 Water-related risks alone equate to around 13% of GDP under a 1-in-100 year scenario. 🚜 Agriculture is among the most exposed sectors to transition risks and opportunities. Businesses are increasingly recognising that nature loss is not only a material risk but also an opportunity. By acting now, companies can meet disclosure requirements, strengthen ESG performance and enhance brand leadership. One vehicle for action is the high-integrity nature credit generated from Restore’s projects. Each Unit funds real restoration, rebuilding biodiversity and ecosystem services. 📩 To explore opportunities, contact us at [email protected] #nature #environment #investment #equitypartnership #greenfinance #finance #esg #naturerestoration

For centuries, we’ve relied on Nature’s services for free; clean water, carbon storage, flood protection. But what isn’t paid for is often undervalued, and what’s undervalued is often lost. That’s starting to change. Payments for ecosystem services are creating a new way of recognising Nature as infrastructure generating returns for investors and resilience for society. On the Sofi Meets podcast, Rob Gardner explores how this shift is reshaping finance, using peatlands and their sphagnum moss as just one example. By putting a price on Nature’s work, we can finally unlock the capital needed to restore it. The question isn’t whether we can afford to pay for Nature. It’s whether we can afford not to. Africa investor, led by Dr. Hubert Danso, spearheaded a landmark initiative to publish the G20 Nature Investment Roadmap 2.0. Rebalance Earth, along with Sustainable Markets Initiative, were proud to support this important work, which sets out a practical pathway for investors and sovereigns to allocate 2–5% of portfolios to Nature by 2026, scaling to 5–10% by 2030. With inaction projected to cost $80 trillion globally by 2050, including $6.5 trillion in Africa, the Roadmap positions Nature as infrastructure; essential to resilience, returns and fiduciary duty. They may look like simple blocks, but Mother Reef bricks are the foundations of oyster reefs - natural infrastructure with measurable ecological and economic value. Once seeded with oysters, these bricks make up oyster reefs which slow coastal erosion, shield communities from flooding, filter seawater, and restore marine biodiversity. In doing so, they reduce physical risks that threaten economies, supply chains, and coastal assets. For investors, this is portfolio resilience made visible. By allocating capital to Nature-based infrastructure, it’s possible to hedge against growing climate and water risks while unlocking long-term, uncorrelated returns.
