  • As part of #CircularEconomyMonth in Canada, our partners at Call2Recycle / Appel à Recycler Canada are showing how sector-specific action can drive measurable progress toward a circular future. Their latest thought leadership article explores how battery recycling fits into the bigger picture of the circular economy, a must-read for anyone interested in the intersection of innovation, legislation, and sustainability. 👉 https://okt.to/u0BEqi 👏 With over 45 million kilograms of batteries collected and diverted from landfill since their inception, Call2Recycle is proving that meaningful change starts with practical, focused solutions. While the campaign is centred in Canada, its message is global and at Reconomy, we’re proud to support this momentum by enabling circularity across industries worldwide, from packaging and electronics to construction, fashion, and food systems. 📊 In 2024 alone, we helped businesses manage over 4 million tonnes of materials, keeping valuable resources in use for longer and accelerating the shift to a more sustainable world. Together, through partnerships like these, we’re closing the circularity gap and building a waste-free future. #ThinkCircular #BatteryRecycling

  • 📅 Today marks 20 days since the amendments to the EU Waste Framework Directive (WFD) were published in the Official Journal, meaning the Directive is now officially active. This represents a significant step toward establishing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for textiles across the EU. 🧵 Under the new timeline: Member States have until 27th June 2027 to have their textile EPR systems running administratively. Full operational implementation must follow by 17th April 2028. These milestones will reshape how the textiles industry manages end-of-life responsibility, waste prevention, and circularity across supply chains. To help brands, producers, and compliance professionals understand what’s next, our experts at Reconomy discussed practical next steps in a recent webinar. Hosted by the Reconomy company, Reverse Logistics Group (RLG), you can download your free copy here: 👉 https://okt.to/ne0N49 Inside, we unpack: - What the new EU Directive means in practice, - How to prepare for national implementation, - What producers should do now to stay ahead of 2027. The countdown to circular textiles has begun. Let’s get ready to make it work, together. 🌍 #CircularEconomy #TextilesEPR #Sustainability

  • 🌍 It’s Circular Economy Month at Reconomy! ♻️ This October, we’re proud to join our Canadian colleagues in marking #CircularEconomyMonth — a time to reflect on how we can all reduce waste, reuse valuable resources, and close the circularity gap, which globally stands at just 6.9%. At Reconomy, circular thinking is more than a theme — it’s how we do business. And this month, we’re spotlighting the innovative ways our teams help keep materials in use and create impact. 🔁 From desk to donation... Ever wondered what happens to your old laptop once IT hands you a shiny new one? As an ISO 27001-certified company, Reconomy replaces employee laptops every three years to maintain security. But rather than simply recycle them — the last resort in our waste hierarchy — our IT team Thinks Circular. They refurbish and reload old devices, giving them new life with a fresh Windows install. These are then redeployed internally, offered to colleagues in exchange for a charity donation, or donated to UK charities and community organisations. In just the last two years, over 200 refurbished devices have been donated to causes near our Telford and Sheffield offices — and even in Germany. With Romania next on the roadmap, this initiative could see up to 1,000 machines reused every year. This circular thinking is now extending to mobile phones too — refreshing and redeploying them wherever possible. 📅 What’s coming up this month? We’ll be sharing stories from across five key sectors: - Construction - Textiles - Electronics - Plastics - Food ✅ Plus, join our Circular Economy Bingo Challenge — track your sustainability wins throughout October, from repairing items to reducing food waste. How many can you tick off? Let’s lead by example and keep circularity front of mind — because every action helps #ThinkCircular.

  • Over 90% of the world’s resources are still wasted, lost, or locked away. It’s clear: the linear economy of “take, make, dispose” is no longer sustainable, or profitable. The circular economy offers a smarter way forward. By designing for reuse, repair, and regeneration, businesses can cut costs, reduce risk, and build long-term resilience. Read our latest article, explaining what the circular economy is and how it can be used to #CloseTheGap.

  • Transparency is becoming regulation, and Digital Product Passports are leading the way. 📅 The EU’s Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is changing how businesses design, label, and manage products across their lifecycle. At the centre of this transformation is the Digital Product Passport (DPP), a secure, digital record containing essential information about a product’s materials, origins, repairability, and end-of-life options. 📅 From 2026, DPPs will begin rolling out for specific product groups, with mandatory compliance for textiles and certain electronics starting in 2027. At Reconomy, we understand that navigating new legislation can be complex. That’s why, through our partners’ services, we support businesses by: - Mapping and structuring product data - Identifying data gaps and readiness risks - Enabling supplier collaboration and long-term planning Digital Product Passports aren’t just about compliance; they represent a circular shift in product design, traceability, and environmental responsibility. 👉 Explore how we and our trusted partners can help you prepare: https://okt.to/FLRXfO #DigitalProductPassport #ThinkCircular

  • Making circularity simple. The circular economy is full of opportunity, but the language around it can sometimes feel like a barrier. Terms like “closed loop”, “reverse logistics,” or even “circularity gap” are used every day, yet not everyone feels confident in what they actually mean. That’s why we’ve created a free Circular Economy Glossary, a practical, easy-to-use resource designed to make circularity more accessible to everyone. Whether you’re taking your first steps or building advanced sustainability strategies, this glossary helps cut through the jargon and unlocks the real value behind circular terms. At Reconomy, our mission is to enable the circular economy by making it simpler, clearer, and more achievable for businesses of every size. This glossary is just one of the ways we’re helping people and organisations #ThinkCircular and #CloseTheGap. 🔗 Explore the glossary here: https://okt.to/9UGq1E 💬 We’d love to hear from you: what circular economy term do you find most confusing, or most useful, in your day-to-day work? Let’s start the conversation, because together, we can create a waste-free world.

  • 🌍Celebrating a double win at the National Sustainability Awards 2025🌍 We’re proud to share that Reconomy and Reconomy Connect have been recognised with two major awards at the 5th Annual National Sustainability Awards, a fantastic moment of recognition for our people, partners, and our commitment to making the circular economy a practical reality. ♻️ Reconomy: Provider of the Year Reconomy was named Provider of the Year for our leadership in helping businesses embrace circularity at scale. From reducing carbon emissions and preventing waste to redesigning supply chains and decoupling growth from virgin resource use, the judges recognised that sustainability isn’t a bolt-on; it’s at the heart of our business model. This award is a proud validation of our purpose in action, creating real-world environmental, social and commercial value. ♻️ Reconomy Connect: Sustainable Packaging Award Reconomy Connect, a specialist Reconomy brand delivering end-to-end waste and resource management, was honoured with the Sustainable Packaging Award for its groundbreaking collaboration with Marston’s, one of the UK’s largest pub chains. Together, Reconomy Connect and Marston's set out to rethink packaging waste by introducing a scalable glass reuse model across the hospitality sector. Since the initiative launched in September 2024, we’ve seen: -Over 22,000 bottles successfully reused - Expansion from 10 to 150+ sites across the North West and Wales - A ripple effect, with other major pub groups now actively exploring similar approaches This partnership is a prime example of what can happen when innovation, purpose, and collaboration meet. By prioritising reuse over recycling, and designing systems that reduce unnecessary materials at source, Reconomy Connect is helping its customers move further up the waste hierarchy, and closer to their sustainability goals. 🌍 These awards reflect the incredible work being carried out across Reconomy to make circularity more accessible, more actionable, and more impactful. Let’s continue to #ThinkCircular, #CloseTheGap and #MoveTheDate, because when we work together, we can build a world where resources are conserved and growth is achieved through sustainable means.
