Tackling the surveying skills gap is an urgent challenge. We hosted The Skills Gap Spotlight and Hackathon at RICS HQ in partnership with BE News and Hackathons UK to find creative solutions. 💬 The spotlight sessions kicked off with opening remarks from RICS Acting President Nicholas Maclean, OBE RD FRICS IRRV (Hons), with keynotes from Sarah Maclean OBE, on Skills England's work so far and its future direction to boost skills across the country and Mark Farmer Founder of Cast and Chair of BEFA on the importance of collaboration across industry. 🤝 Senior leaders from built environment professional bodies joined our CEO Justin Young to debate how the skills gap is impacting the sector and opportunities to collaborate. Including: Chris Williamson, President of RIBA Rosalind Thorpe, Director of Education and Standards at CIOB Lindsey Richards FRTPI, Immediate Past President at RTPI Richard Bayfield, Vice President of ICE. 🥇 Hackathon participants pitched their ideas to help address the skills gap to a panel of judges. The winning idea, a platform that works as a broker, matching talent to employers in the built environment, will now be developed with the support of RICS mentors. Thank you to all the event speakers, workshopping hosts, hackathon participants, judges and mentors and everyone involved. 👏 Learn more about addressing the skills gap, read our Surveying skills report: http://ms.spr.ly/6044tGPUG #Surveying #Surveyor #SkillsGap

We proudly took part in this year's Festival of The Girl to help challenge gender stereotypes and show girls that their futures are limitless. Over the two-day festival we helped educate children aged 7-11, and their parents or guardians, about what surveyors do and the important roles they play in shaping the places and spaces around them. Thank you to our Inspire Ambassadors and member volunteers who gave their time to inspire future generations of surveyors 👏 #Surveying #Surveyor
