2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games Host Recommended as Amdavad, India. The Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport has today confirmed that it will recommend Amdavad, India, as the proposed host city for the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games. Amdavad (also known as Ahmedabad, in the Indian state of Gujarat), will now be put forward to the full Commonwealth Sport membership, with the final decision taking place at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow on 26 November 2025. The recommendation represents a landmark moment for the Commonwealth Sport Movement. The 2030 Games will mark the centenary of the inaugural event held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930. As a result of the impressive and ambitious submission from Nigeria, the Commonwealth Sport Executive Board has also agreed to develop a strategy for supporting and accelerating Nigeria’s hosting ambitions for future Games, including consideration for 2034. • We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Jane Goodall. 🌿 The legendary primatologist and anthropologist spoke at the Commonwealth Day Service in 2012, sharing insights on the importance of connections - for science, the environment, and communities. She reflected on Kenya’s connections, including its Commonwealth ties, and how they supported her groundbreaking work. Born in London in 1934, Dame Jane made extraordinary contributions to our understanding of primates, showing that it isn’t only humans who have personality, reason, and emotions such as joy and sorrow. Her legacy will continue to inspire generations.
