Promoting economics. Supporting economists. Improving diversity.

About us

The RES is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious economic associations, dedicated to advancing economics for the public good. We bring together an international membership of academics, students, and professionals to promote high-quality research, foster inclusive debate, and support the next generation of economists. Through our journals, conferences, events and training, we provide a platform for cutting-edge ideas that shape policy and improve understanding of the economy and society. Beyond research, we champion education and diversity in economics—encouraging more young people from all backgrounds to study the subject and helping teachers and universities to inspire the next generation. Our outreach, policy engagement, and partnerships connect economics with real-world challenges, from climate change and inequality to productivity and growth. By supporting excellence in research, promoting diversity and inclusion, and amplifying economics’ role in public life, the RES works to ensure the discipline makes a lasting, positive impact.
