Last week's The Scottish Parliament reception brought together MSPs and industry to celebrate and explore the #ScotchWhisky supply chain from grain to glass Our thanks to Daniel Johnson MSP for sponsoring, and to he and Cabinet Secretary Mairi Gougeon MSP for their warm words on why a move to #SupportScotch will help our sector - and Scotland - to grow and thrive
About us
The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) is the trade body for the Scotch Whisky industry. Its role is to advance the global interests and profile of Scotch Whisky, our members and of the industry as a whole. SWA membership is for companies which are distillers, bottlers, brand owners or brokers of Scotch Whisky. We see the Scotch whisky industry as a significant Scottish and British economic and cultural asset that boosts growth and jobs, that strongly supports the communities with which we work, and that combines the very best of the traditional and the modern. By building strong relationships with all levels of government and opinion-formers and by making a visible impact on public debate we will: • Be a trusted voice in the debate on alcohol and society • Support a competitive, sustainable and fairly taxed industry • Safeguard the Scotch Whisky category • Ensure fair access to all markets worldwide. The SWA can trace its origins back to October 1912. The original organisation, the Wine & Spirit Brand Association changed its name to the Whisky Association in 1917 which in turn became the SWA in 1940.

🥃 Whisky highball in hand? Let’s talk units. A 50ml serve of 40% Scotch = 2 units of alcohol. Even the longest serve should be measured, sipped and savoured responsibly. Learn more about our #MadeToBeMeasured campaign 👉 https://lnkd.in/eRANq8rz

Scotch Whisky Association reposted this
Can officially tick organising a parliamentary reception off the bucket list ✅ A big thank you to everyone who made it out last night to the Scotch Whisky Association reception at the Scottish Parliament, it was great to see so many members, stakeholders and MSPs there to learn about and celebrate the important links between the Scotch Whisky industry and local communities. A special thanks to both Daniel Johnson MSP for sponsoring the event and Cabinet Secretary Mairi Gougeon for her speech. We also had some great stalls headed up by Laura Taylor at Chivas, Angela Dineen at the Scotch Whisky Experience, Tam Cassidy at Community Alcohol Partnerships and coopers Ryan and John from Diageo who did an amazing demonstration that had me contemplating a career change. A shoutout also to the events team at the Scottish Parliament for doing such a great job with the event and helping us with some challenging logistics to make it such a success. 📸 courtesy of Nick Mailer

This #WorldWhiskyDay, take the time to sip and savour your dram 🥃 A single measure (25ml) of 40% ABV #ScotchWhisky = 1 unit of alcohol. It's always nice to be recognised so I'm delighted that World Trademark Review have seen fit to add me to the WTR300, the list of "the corporate brand professionals deemed to be the leading lights of the industry, performing trademark-related duties to the highest standards, adding true value to their organisations and exemplifying the qualities to which others should aspire."(their words not mine!) for my work at the Scotch Whisky Association. Thank you to all of the wonderful people who nominated me. https://lnkd.in/e-qrJvcf
