🚨Career advice you won’t find in a job description🚨 Yesterday, I attended SEO London’s Black History Month: Insight into Independents at Jefferies also featuring professionals from Evercore , Rothschild & Co , Lazard , PJT Partners , and Houlihan Lokey sharing their journeys in investment banking Some of my key takeaways from each panellist 👇🏾 🔑Jean-Christophe K. with prior experience in private equity, shared how his move into Technology M&A was driven by a genuine passion for the tech sector - a strong example of aligning your career with your personal interests. 🔑Toby Togonu-Bickersteth discussed his impressive progression from Spring Week Intern → Summer Analyst → Full-Time Analyst - emphasising the importance of mastering the basics, maintaining a positive attitude, and always giving 100% effort. 🔑Uba D. Vice President and Chief of Staff at Jefferies, shared insights on how the way you carry yourself will greatly influence your carrier progression and is just as important as being a high performer. 🔑Sulayman S. Marketing & Communications Senior Associate at Rothschild & Co, highlighted how data-driven campaigns show finance is as much about communication and influence as numbers. 🔑Hugh Richards Vice President at Lazard shared insights on building expertise, maintaining a strong work ethic, and navigating career progression in investment banking. 🔑Samkele G. began his career in accountancy before pivoting into investment banking - a great reminder that your first role doesn’t have to define your long-term path. A personal highlight for me was speaking with Charlotte Edgar COO of EMEA Equity Research at Jefferies. We discussed the importance of upskilling as a young professional. Such as improving Excel proficiency, developing commercial awareness, and pursuing relevant extracurricular or industry qualifications. Charlotte also mentioned that while technical ability is a given among successful candidates, what truly differentiates top interns is their soft skills such as communication, curiosity, and how well they engage with colleagues and clients. Thank you SEO London, Jefferies, and every Panelist for the fantastic event and opportunity #BlackHistoryMonth #Finance #InvestmentBanking #CareerDevelopment #SEOLondon #Networking

Last Sunday (12th Oct), Emi Yamaguchi and I crossed the finish line of the Royal Parks Half - London — 13.1 miles through some of London’s most beautiful parks. What made this run truly special wasn’t just the distance, but the difference it represented. Together with the incredible support of friends, colleagues, and our wider community, we’ve raised funds for SEO London, a charity dedicated to creating opportunities for talented young people from underrepresented backgrounds. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, cheered, or sent us words of encouragement — every message and contribution carried us through the course. Your generosity will help open more doors, build confidence, and inspire the next generation of leaders. And a heartfelt thanks to SEO London for the important work you do and for allowing us to be part of your mission. Thank you all. 🌱 #RoyalParksHalf #SEOLondon #ThankYou #CharityRun #TeamSpirit

Chief of Staff - Global Markets, EMEA | UBS

I was honoured to deliver the keynote address at the recent SEO London Masterclass hosted at UBS.   SEO London is a charity that connects talented students from underrepresented backgrounds with career opportunities in competitive industries. This afternoon event welcomed over 80 enthusiastic students, all eager to explore roles across UBS's Investment Bank, Wealth Management, Asset Management and Group Functions.   The students gained valuable insights into life at UBS and the various entry points available—from Spring Week programmes to internships and our graduate scheme.   A heartfelt thank you to all the students for their energy and engagement, and to Lisa McNeil-Duncan, our Campus Recruitment team and SEO London for their seamless coordination. I look forward to seeing many of these bright individuals take their first steps towards a rewarding career at UBS.   #shareubs

  • With the new academic year beginning, the SEO London Income & Partnership Development (IPD) team is gearing up to grow our network of partners and open new opportunities for talented students and alumni.   The aim is simple: build partnerships, connect SEO London to like-minded firms and create pathways that help under resourced talent thrive.   A great example of what this looks like in practice is our new partnership with the Coach Foundation. Together, we’ve launched SEO London’s first retail & fashion collaboration through the 'Dream It Real' programme, providing scholarships, mentoring and career development opportunities for 35 undergraduate students.   'Dream It Real' is the signature initiative of the Coach Foundation, created to support under resourced students around the globe in pursuing higher education, discovering their purpose and achieving financial and personal stability. Launched in 2018, the programme has already awarded over 7,000 scholarships (outpacing its original goal) while also reaching more than 170,000 young people with mentoring, resources and holistic support. Every introduction to a potential partner helps us expand into new industries, new sectors and new opportunities for our community.   If your organisation would like to explore a partnership with SEO London, reach out to our amazing team at [email protected] #PartnershipsThatMatter #SEOLondon #SocialMobility #ImpactThroughPartnership #CorporateResponsibility #CareerDevelopment #Scholarships #MentoringMatters

We would like to congratulate our 38 cyclists who took on a 490km ride across the Alpine landscape and conquered an impressive 7,900 metres of climbing, to fundraise for SEO London, our EMEA charity partner. Over this extraordinary three-day challenge riding from Milan to Zurich in celebration of SEO London’s 25th Anniversary, our cyclists from across Global Markets, Investment Banking, Information Security, Technology, HR and Risk raised over £26,000 for SEO London. The money raised will have a significant impact on SEO London’s Schools programme and could fund 51 weeks of work experience for school students or support 15 students through the two-year long SEO Empower employability programme. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to everyone who supported our cyclists. #SEOLondon25 #SEOLondon #Charity #SocialImpact #Fundraising #Volunteering #CharityPartner

We’re proud to share the first in our Black History Month series of spotlights celebrating social justice rebels who embody courage, equity and change. We begin with Olive Morris (1952–1979), a fearless community activist who dedicated her short but extraordinary life to fighting racial and gender injustice. Proof that even at a young age you can make a big impact. Born in Jamaica and raised in South London, Olive became a leading voice in Britain’s Black liberation and feminist movements; co-founding the Brixton Black Women’s Group and the Organisation of Women of African and Asian Descent. Her work championed solidarity, education and the power of community to challenge inequality. Read more about the fearless Olive Morris: https://lnkd.in/es2rmZ89 At SEO London, we continue to honour her legacy through our commitment to access, representation and inclusion. This month, we were proud to be Property Week’s charity partner for the amazing Inspiring Women in Property Awards night and our Law team hosted a masterclass to empower aspiring Black lawyers through mentorship, skills-building, and networking. One of many such endeavours which continue to empower Black heritage students all year round. #BlackHistoryMonth #SEOLondon #OliveMorris #EquityInAction #RepresentationMatters #BHM #Rebel #Liberty #Freedom #Access
