✨ Bridging the Gap Between Aspiration and Access ✨
The work continues! On Monday we had our GHD x SiSTEM UK x STEMAZING event which reminded me just how powerful it is when we bring young people into professional spaces, not just to observe, but to belong.
When designing this event with Alex Knight CEng FIMechE from STEMAZING, we made a deliberate choice to invite both sixth formers and university students. Seeing them interact, share stories, and form genuine alliances 🥺 That’s the kind of cross-generation sisterhood we need more of in STEM.
Too often, the world of work feels distant to students. But when they walk into offices, meet engineers who look like them, and hear real stories, something shifts, they start to see themselves there.
Representation and proximity build belief. That’s why events like this matter they bridge the gap between education and industry, turning imagination into possibility.
💖 A huge thank you to all the incredible young women who took the time to apply and show up. You are bold, brilliant, and fearless. The next generation in STEM isn’t waiting for permission; they’re already stepping into purpose.
And of course, thank you to our partners at GHD and STEMAZING for opening your doors and creating such an empowering space for the future of engineering.
How I wish I had spaces like this when I was younger, maybe the jump into the corporate world wouldn’t have felt so scary. Now, we’re making sure the next generation won’t have to make that leap alone 💫
Let’s keep building bridges, not barriers.
