Making Space Sustainable
About us
Skyrora is a UK launch vehicle provider aiming to provide flexible sovereign launch capabilities to the UK through the development of an orbital vehicle and carefully selected supply chain innovations that we believe will reinforce the industry for years to come. Skyrora’s strategy is to take an incremental ‘step-by-step’ approach to launch to allow for critical testing and de-risking. We utilise proven technology in combination with advanced additive manufacturing methods, taking significant inspiration from previous UK space heritage, sharing the same propellant combination as Black Arrow and utilising learnings from Skylark for our suborbital test programme. As part of this approach, we have developed four suborbital rockets in order to perform real-time testing of the avionics, ground control systems, payload deployment and recovery systems of the vehicles in parallel with the development of our orbital rocket. Skyrora’s four suborbital rockets ascend from Skylark Nano, through to Skylark Micro, SkyHy and finally to Skylark-L. Most recently, Skyrora attempted to launch Skylark L in October 2022 from Iceland. Our orbital vehicle, Skyrora XL consists of 3 stages with a re-ignitable maneuverable third stage allowing for the specific placement of satellites in orbit. Skyrora XL will be able to carry 315kg of weight up to 500km high.

Following a fantastic week at the IAC 2025 Sydney, we’re grateful for the chance to connect with both long-standing partners and new collaborators. It was a pleasure to meet Josef Aschbacher, Director General of ESA, in person — and to share perspectives on the future of European space and our recent launch licence. Events like #IAC2025 are a reminder of how powerful collaboration is in driving progress. #Skyrora #SpaceInnovation #IAC2025

A huge thank you to the team at Viasat for their continued support and partnership as we move toward our upcoming launch. Collaborations like this, bringing together world-class innovation and shared ambition, are exactly what drives progress in the #NewSpace era. #Skyrora #Viasat
We're proud to support the growing UK space sector and enable the next generation of launch capabilities through our partnership with Skyrora to provide our InRange launch telemetry solution for their upcoming missions. 🚀 Skyrora is the first UK-based manufacturer to receive a launch license and is targeting up to 16 launches per year by 2030 from SaxaVord Spaceport in Shetland, Scotland. This project is supported by European Space Agency - ESA and the UK Space Agency, building on successful ground tests completed in 2024. InRange uses our L-band geostationary satellites to provide continuous telemetry data throughout the entire flight - ensuring reliable, real-time monitoring from launch to payload deployment, regardless of ground station visibility. 🔗 Discover more: https://bit.ly/46zlWe4 #ukspace #uklaunch #inrange #ukmanufacturing #satellitecommunications

We love seeing the new generation of bright scientists growing, striving, and achieving their goals. A huge congratulations to GU Rocketry on your latest success — you have our warmest support! Keep reaching higher, the future is yours! Onwards and upwards! #Rocketry #FutureScientists #STEM
This summer, 22 members of GU Rocketry attended International Rocket Week 2025, hosted by the Scottish Aeronautics & Rocketry Association. Across the event, we contributed 10 unique rockets with over 20 combined flights. The proudest moment for GUR was the launch of Oberon 2. It was the largest rocket to take part in the entire event and was the culmination of GU Rocketry’s hard work in design, assembly and integration. On Friday, 22nd August, Oberon 2: ⭐️ Broke the sound barrier at T+1.19s and reached a top speed of Mach 1.62 ⭐️ Set a new UK single motor M class altitude record at 19,589 ft (5,971 m), breaking a record that had stood since 2000! ⭐️ Landed fully intact, ready to fly again On top of this achievement, GUR became the first university team to win the IRW Senior Award, recognising not only our technical progress but also our rapid growth and commitment to outreach. Our achievements are only possible thanks to the unwavering support of our sponsors, who share our vision of opening pathways into STEM for everyone. We’re beyond proud of what the team has accomplished and excited to keep pushing boundaries, sharing knowledge, and inspiring the next generation of rocketeers. #ThinkBigGoBeyond #STEM #engineering #innovation #rocketry
