Having grown up seeing my Grandad manage Type 1 diabetes every single day, I’ve seen first-hand the impact the condition can have and the resilience it takes to live with it. It’s estimated that more than 400,000 people in the UK are living with Type 1 diabetes, with prevalence continuing to rise costing the UK economy over £1.9 billion each year in direct healthcare costs. Diagnosed at 18, England rugby star Henry Slade has lived the daily realities of managing the condition, making hundreds of extra decisions each day just to keep his blood sugar levels stable. He has launched Tackle Diabetes with Sanofi, with an ambition to shine a light on the importance of early detection and challenging stigma around the condition. We worked alongside our colleagues at Advocate Marketing Communications to land significant national broadcast and print coverage last week and look forward to seeing the continued impact of the campaign in the months ahead.
