Richard Armstrong, CCO of client StreamBank, features in a Member Spotlight Q&A, with the Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA) https://lnkd.in/exs6XzXy
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: StreamBank Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Armstrong 1. What does your organisation do, and what sets you apart in the bridging and development finance sector? StreamBank provides short-term property finance across residential, commercial and development. We support brokers on purchases, refurbishments, refinance, multi-security loans and specialist cases like holiday lets. What sets us apart is the mix of flexibility and speed. Every case is manually underwritten, so we structure funding around the client rather than a checklist. When everyone works together, we can move very quickly. One recent case completed in just five working days. 2. Why did you decide to join the BDLA? The BDLA is a respected voice for the sector. It brings together lenders, brokers and professionals to share knowledge and raise standards. Joining gave us the chance to be part of that collective effort and align with an organisation whose values reflect our own. 3. What’s one key benefit you’ve gained from being part of the BDLA community? Connections. The BDLA puts us in front of active brokers who want to work with lenders that deliver. It has also been a platform to showcase real examples of how we get deals over the line, rather than just talking about speed and service. 4. What trends are you currently seeing in the bridging and development market? Certainty is front of mind. Brokers and borrowers want confidence that once a lender says yes, funds will be there on time. Speed still matters, but it depends on everyone in the chain pulling together. We are also seeing strong demand for clean cases that can move quickly, alongside a steady flow of more complex deals. At the same time, networks and packagers are playing a bigger role in distribution, making those relationships increasingly important. 5. How do you see your business evolving in the next 12 months and how does BDLA membership support those ambitions? Our focus is steady, sustainable growth. We have added two new underwriters to strengthen the team and are expanding distribution through networks such as New Leaf and Connect. Over the next year, we aim to keep building strong partnerships, scaling lending in a controlled way and focusing on quality. The BDLA supports that by keeping us connected to brokers and giving us a platform to share what we can deliver.
