  • It’s National T Level Week and a #Staffordshire student is showing how T Levels are helping young people gain real work experience and valuable skills for their future careers 🌟   Alex Mottram, aged 17, is studying for a T Level in Digital Support Services and is completing his industry placement with our Cyber Team.  Alex supports the team with cyber security operations, including detecting threats, responding to incidents, and helping to keep council systems safe and secure 🧑💻   He said the placement is helping him put what he learns at college into practice.    Alex said: “I want to get a job in cyber security in the future, so I decided that the T Level was the best way to go.    “I would absolutely recommend T Levels as an option, as I find it easier keeping up with one subject rather than three, and the placement is really useful for my future because it lets me gain key workplace skills that other students might not get.”    T Levels are a government-backed alternative to A levels and apprenticeships, combining classroom learning with an extended industry placement.    ➡️ If you feel that your business could host a T-Level Placement, or you are interested in finding out more about this qualification route, please contact our T-Level Ambassadors [email protected] or [email protected] #TLevels #NationalTLevelWeek #CareerOpportunities #SchoolLeavers

  • A new scheme to improve children’s safety and encourage more walking and cycling to and from school is being trialled in #Staffordshire 🚶♀️🚴 This initiative could see the temporary closure of certain streets outside schools at drop-off and pick-up times. ✅ This helps reduce traffic and congestion ✅ Creates safer spaces for children, families and staff ✅ Encourages healthier, active travel to school Signs would be in place to show when roads are closed. Residents, blue badge holders and emergency vehicles will still have access. Trials took place at three schools including Burton Fields Primary, Horninglow Primary in #Burton and St Thomas’ Primary in #Kidsgrove. 📷 Photo (L - R) shows Joanne Key, Principal Transport Strategy Officer, Anthony Screen, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Resilience and Mrs Buggy, Deputy Head at St Thomas CofE Primary Academy. ➡️ Have your say about School Streets with the link in the comments.

  • 81-year-old Graham is back in high viz after a major health scare 🦺 A school crossing patrol warden who suffered a massive heart attack while waiting for fish and chips said he “…couldn’t wait to get back on the job.” Graham Scott from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been a school crossing patrol warden for us for 24 years! He currently works at Hempstalls Primary School in #Newcastle. He suffered a major cardiac arrest at the start of this year, while waiting in the queue for his favourite dinner of fish and chips. Fortunately, a nurse who was also in the queue was able to perform CPR and use a local defibrillator to save his life. After a period of rest and recovery, Graham was determined to get back out at his school crossing, something he did every day come rain or shine before his health issue. Graham said: "I love the fresh air and talking to the children and parents. The school has welcomed me back with open arms—it’s a really big part of my life, and I couldn’t wait to get back on the job as soon as I was better." We're all happy to have you back Graham 🫶
