Last night, we had the privilege of hosting a Black History Month event in partnership with the Aleto Foundation – a charity, at SThree, we’re proud to work closely with. The theme of the evening was Power and Presence: Standing Firm in Power and Pride. The room was filled with inspiring individuals; Aleto trustees, senior leaders from SThree, and Aleto alumni members. We heard from poets, singers and and an esteemed panel of Alumi's and trustees. Thank you Abigail Kwao, Dr Leanne Armitage, Ivan Beckley, MD, Veronica Martin OBE for sharing your inspirational stories and providing further guidance on mentorship, mindset and different approaches to life - both professionally and personally. It was an evening of connection and celebration, a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from community and shared purpose.

Last week marked an important moment for SThree. Hosting are large-scale thought-leadership event at our London HQ: AI in Action: Shaping the Future of Higher Education, in partnership with UCISA. The conversations reminded me of how fast AI is moving into the heart of every sector, higher education included. Opportunities, challenges, and new responsibilities are emerging in real time. The organisations that thrive will be those that not only adopt technology, but also build the right mindset to lead through change. That was the focus of our COO, Nick Folkes, in his keynote on the power of a digital-first strategy. Nicks message, digital transformation isn’t a project or a programme - it’s a way of thinking, a discipline, and ultimately a leadership choice. For me, that’s where SThree has a vital role to play. We don’t just connect talent to opportunity; we help organisations anticipate what’s next and prepare their people for it. Because without the skills and mindset, technology cannot deliver its full potential. A huge thank you to UCISA and to the panel of expert speakers who brought diverse perspectives to the discussion. And of course, to the SThree teams who made this event possible. AI is already reshaping the future of work, of education, and of business. The question for leaders is not if it will change your organisation, but how ready you are when it does?

In an article I wrote for the World Economic Forum Agenda blog, I explore why the shortage of STEM professionals is no longer just a workforce issue, it is a strategic challenge that affects national competitiveness, economic resilience and the future of innovation itself. Many countries risk falling behind due to systemic gaps in leadership, infrastructure, and trust. Organisations must respond by cultivating leadership that inspires, not just manages.
