William Deegan AdvDip in Education was inspired to create The Shoppa Squad by his grandchildren as they have a fascination for autonomous delivery robots…loving spotting them in their local town!! always wanting their picture taken with them!! persuading their parents/grandparents to use them to deliver to our door, while wondering at the adventures and journeys they have taken to get there!! In the ‘real world’ our readers (today’s children) will be the users, creators, and innovators of future generations of these quirky, and fun robots. 👏 Autonomous robot delivery could add £1.3bn to UK ecomony!!! 👏 📚 The Shoppa Squad, the world's first series of children's illustrated books about a brilliant team of autonomous delivery robots, was delighted to read that our cousins in the world of food, groceries and medicine delivery, could add £1.3bn to the UK economy in the next decade. 📚 Highlights from the report include: 😲 Expanding the fleet of personal delivery devices (PDDs) available in the UK could create hundreds of new jobs, worth £11m in cumulative wages and drastically boost grocery spending. 🍱 Autonomous grocery delivery bots would increase spending on groceries by £125m, with the biggest uplift to be seen in food deserts (areas without convenient access to sources of fresh food.) One area of the UK that has seen a robust trial of delivery robots is Milton Keynes, where Robotics firm Starship Technologies has been operating for years. Milton Keynes North MP Chris Curtis MP, who is chair of the Labour Growth Group, said: “In Milton Keynes the robots are a much loved part of daily life. They also bring economic and societal benefits – increased productivity, investment in skilled tech jobs, improving access to delivery to those who struggle with mobility." The 12 months going through this process are now worth it as The Shoppa Squad - Lilah's Adventures is now complete and will be available from November 2025 from a range of online sites. This adventure was originally launched in May 2025, but following an 'IP' challenge we have made a few amends and this updated (improved!!) version is now back!!! If you have one of the original versions, you have a collectors item, look after it!! 😂 📚 As well as being part of the world's first series of children's illustrated books about a brilliant team of autonomous delivery robots 📚.
