TAKING PLACE TOMORROW! National Care Leavers Month is an annual event in November dedicated to celebrating care leavers and raising awareness about the challenges they face. This year marks the first National Care Leavers Month, with the theme "Rising as Me: Overcoming challenges, transforming, and finding your identity". Within this session, we will be joined by Nicola Turner who will share key statistics around the additional challenges that care experienced young people face when making career related decisions. We will consider the role that we, as careers professionals, play in these young people's lives and discuss strategies to ensure we are supporting them to overcome the barriers they have in place. Today, we celebrate #WorldMentalHealthDay 💜 At The Careers People, we have the pleasure of working with many young people and helping them to consider what barriers they’re facing now, or foresee in their future. As you can imagine in this day and age, mental health comes up a lot. In fact, NHS England found that in 2023, one in five young people aged 8 - 25 in England had a probable mental disorder. To ensure our team are supported in their work, we provided termly supervision and wellbeing check ins because it can be a lot to carry on your own! Sending love to everyone, today and every day. #careers #mentalhealth #studentsupport

We have been blessed with not one but two "Claire"s joining The Careers People Team. Claire joins us from a less obvious background as this will be her first position completing one to ones. Claire’s previous roles saw her creating employability programmes, delivering workshops in schools and providing young people with the opportunity to to access experiences that developed key skills and knowledge to help them make positive choices. We’re looking forward to watching you flourish in an Advisory role, Claire! #careers #careersadvisor #careersadvice #careersguidance

Are your marketing team attending the Independent Schools Show next week? The Careers People team are popping along to speak to private secondary schools to share information on our Independent School Careers Newsletter. We’d love to have a chat with your marketing team to show them how the newsletter would look, and the potential impact it could have on your young people looking to access up to date LMI, opportunities from employers/universities and learn about the application process in different global destinations. We’re creating mock up newsletters over the next week to give marketing teams a live view of what the newsletter would look like with your branding. If you’d like a mock up for your school, please email us on [email protected] #careers #marketing #independentschoolsshow

We all know that meeting Gatsby Benchmark 4 requires a “whole school approach”, but this can be a challenge when teachers have such little time to do work that can be viewed as “extra” in comparison to their teaching, assessing, marking, lesson preparation etc. Within this blog, our Intern Robyn explores what Teachers can do to meet Gatsby Benchmark 4 to create impact for young people in the classroom, without taking up too much of their valuable time. Join us on The Careers Circle this Thursday 18th Sept from 4-445pm for our first community event of the year! Jess will be hosted the event and has shared the following context for the event; “Back in 2018, I attend a careers event that really stuck with me. I can’t remember the event or the speaker, but the message is very clear. “Treat your careers department like a business and your students, teachers, parents and businesses as your customers”. This was the catalyst for me creating a careers brand within my school and really altered the way I promoted events and engaged with internal/external audiences. Within this session, I am going to take the ideology a step further… And I want to share it with you!” Let’s come together and set KPIs for our careers programmes. Whether you are a Careers Leaders focused on meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks or a Careers Advisor looking to improve your practice, this session will have something for you to consider and hopefully, implement in your setting(s). Every Careers Pro is welcome. 2025/26 - LET’S DO THIS! 🎯 Link to book: https://lnkd.in/eNezRZAf #careersadvisors #careersleaders #careersprofessionals #goalsetting
