✨ Celebrating Collaboration and Inclusion at Do it Now Now’s Big Business in Social Investment Event. Last week, the Diversity Forum had the pleasure of attending the Do it Now Now (DiNN) Big Business in Social Investment event — an inspiring gathering of changemakers, social investors, and community leaders working to make finance more equitable and accessible. The day was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when collaboration meets purpose. ✨ DiNN’s commitment to empowering Black-led and global majority-led charities and social enterprises was evident throughout the day and Bayo Adelaja MBE’s leadership and vision truly set the tone. We were inspired by Grace McCorkle, co-founder of COLLABORATIVE WOMEN UK CIC CIC, whose passion and determination moved many in the room. Her work in building a sustainable, women-led social enterprise is creating real change and opportunity. It was fantastic to see so many social investors and partners championing inclusive finance, including: 💡 Key Fund Investments, NatWest Social & Community Capital, Pathway Fund, Derrick Twum from MEM Academy, Youth League UK, and stakeholders such as Kindred LCR and Barking & Dagenham Giving - Everyone Included — all sharing practical insights and genuine commitment to breaking barriers. The Diversity Forum was proud to be represented by Swati Pujari, Patricia Hamzahee OBE FRSA, and Atlyn Forde. Swati was a excellent facilitator for the session ‘Local Investment Opportunities: The importance of regional funding opportunities’ We were also delighted to connect with Brendan H.egarty (NatWest), Chris Colwell (Key Fund), Olivia McLoughlin Good Finance UK , Nkechi Deborah Adeboye City Bridge Foundation and Joanne Anderson, among others — each contributing valuable perspectives on inclusive investment. As the Diversity Forum continues to spotlight good practice and build shared learning across the sector, we’re inviting partners and practitioners to join us in: 🤝 Developing initiatives that support inclusive practice 💬 Showcasing collaboration and innovation across the ecosystem 🚀 Championing equity, diversity and inclusion at every level of social investment If you’re working on initiatives or ideas that align with this mission — we’d love to hear from you. 📩 Get in touch at [email protected]

About us
Welcome to the Diversity Forum – a collective on a mission to drive inclusive social investment in the UK to address the glaring disconnect in the socioeconomic backgrounds of social investors making decisions and the individuals who are seeking funding for their organisations. Our mission is to drive inclusive social investment in the UK. We do this through working with others towards equitable representation, including the voice of social entrepreneurs through co-creating equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives and empowering EDI leads with the knowledge and agency to create change in the sector.

Great news to end the week 👇🏽✨
On 15th October 2025, the Government issued a Policy Direction confirming an allocation of £87.5 million of Dormant Assets to Access - The Foundation for Social Investment to grow social investment in underserved places and communities. This includes £12 million of scale-up funding for Pathway Fund in line with the aspirations set out in the Community Enterprise Growth Plan (CEGP). This is a landmark moment that enables us to move forward with our plans to deploy this vital capital to Black and Ethnically Minoritised (BEM) communities and turn the vision outlined in our upcoming 2026-2029 strategy into a reality. This confirmation enables us to establish a sound architecture for long-term racial equity, as the UK’s first BEM-led social investment wholesaler. Our Immediate Next Steps: 1. Regional follow-ups: We will update our regional listening event partners before publishing our regional insights syntheses later this month. 2. Formal strategy launch: We will host a hybrid launch event for our new strategy on 11th November 2025 to share our organisational strategy, vision and deployment plans with partners, funders, and communities. 3. Preparation and launch of call for applications: We are preparing for our first funding call, the call for applications for Wave 1 programmes will open in Q1 2026, following the signing of formal grant agreements. This is a pivotal moment in our mission to build a more equitable economic future. The confirmation of this funding allows us to move from strategy to implementation, working alongside our partners and communities to unlock the vast potential within BEM-led enterprises across the country. We look forward to building a social investment ecosystem that is truly inclusive, catalysing community wealth and driving systemic change for generations to come. Join us in making this vision a reality. Are you interested in joining this taskforce👇🏽
Too complicated, too niche, doesn’t deliver impact and the sector doesn’t want it. Those were some of the prompts rehearsed by the Enterprise Grants Taskforce yesterday afternoon (hosted by School for Social Entrepreneurs). Our job was to counter negative perceptions of enterprise grant making held by sceptical funders and foundations. With clear narrative, evidence, examples, and plenty of data (not to mention a good dose of humour) members of the taskforce debunked them all! Most organisations in our sector are already trading, and many want to do more. Earning income promotes resilience, independence and empowerment - increasingly priorities for all funders. It's meeting real need in the sector and stimulating demand for other forms of finance. Enterprise grant making is a method not a cause, so it doesn't mean a change of impact focus. It can be pursued within whatever impact priorities a funder already has - even those where the income model might be hard to see at first (for example last week in Liverpool I met the CEO of an amazingly enterprising legal aid charity). By stimulating additional income into the organisation and offering the potential for some recycling of grants it's an efficient and more sustainable way to fund the sector. Foundations adopting an enterprise grants approach haven't needed any new systems or staff, and there's a wealth of good practice and peer support from taskforce members and beyond. Still need convincing? Come and join a taskforce meeting and see the potential of this powerful funding practice to boost the resilience of your grantees. https://lnkd.in/esSa59rJ

What is the future of EDI in Social Investment? This week, the Diversity Forum brought together over 50 sector leaders, changemakers, and allies for an energising and thought-provoking event. ✨ The goal? To share the findings from our latest strategic review, spark an honest conversation about the state of equity, diversity and inclusion in the sector – and co-create ideas for how we move forward, together. 🎤 Panel Highlights We were honoured to be joined by a brilliant panel of speakers: Patricia Hamzahee OBE FRSA – Black Funding Network Mark Norbury – UnLtd Amy Gutcher – Sumerian Foundation Annelise Sauter – Better Society Capital James Adeleke (FRSA) – Generation Success Atlyn Forde - Diversity Forum Associate and Communicate Inclusively Each brought powerful perspectives on accountability, leadership, representation, and the need to embed EDI at every level of our sector. From challenging power dynamics to rethinking what inclusive funding really looks like, the discussion was rich with challenge and hope. 📊 Survey insights We shared key findings from our stakeholder survey: ✅ EDI must remain a core focus ✅ The top priorities? Accountability, diverse representation, inclusive leadership, better data, and sector-wide collaboration ✅ Calls for more strategic support, peer learning, and lived experience leadership 💬 Attendee Reflections The energy in the room was honest and solutions-focused. Attendees left with a clear message: business as usual isn’t enough. We need to rewrite the rule book, embed EDI into how we fund, govern and partner — and we need to do it faster. 📌 What’s next? We’re finalising the next phase of our strategy, with your input. There will be opportunities to: ✅ Shape the future of the Diversity Forum ✅ Engage with our evolving Steering Group ✅ Access more tools, resources, and community events ✅ Collaborate on systems-level change 💥 A huge thank you to our speakers, our host Melanie Mills and Better Society Capital, contributors and every attendee who shared their voice.
