This week, Sophie Rees and Barnaby Waddell had the opportunity to visit Jobcentre Plus in Bideford for a day of 1-to-1 targeted recruitment interviews, connecting directly with jobseekers interested in careers in construction. Our goal? To support unemployed individuals in the local area by offering real job opportunities, guidance, and a clear pathway back into work. We had an excellent visit to DWP Job Centre Plus in Caerphilly yesterday morning, conducting one-on-one interviews with individuals specifically seeking to enter or re-enter the construction industry. With several significant projects on the horizon in the area, we believed this would be an ideal opportunity to help local unemployed individuals return to work. Everyone came equipped with CSCS cards and PPE, enthusiastic about beginning the next chapters of their careers. Sophie Rees & Elliot Legge had a great day filled with mock interviews for Year 10 students at Dwr Y Felin School⭐️ Interviews can be quite stressful, so having the opportunity to practice at the age of 14-15 to enhance their confidence, improve their interview skills, and prepare them for future opportunities was an invaluable experience. They were thrilled to support John Weaver Contractors LTD at this event, a big thanks to Careers Wales and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council for organising.
I've been thrilled to meet with Year 10 pupils at Dwr Y Felin today, taking part in their 'Mock Interviews' with support from Sophie Rees and Elliot Legge, all arranged with Careers Wales and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Over 200 pupils have had interviews with the panel of 14. They've impressed us with their preparation, communication and ability to not only sell themselves, but overcome those nerves and jitters we all get in interviews, especially when it's your first experience in this setting. This was great timing for them before they start their work experience next week, and I think we've inspired some to look at #careersinconstruction and options with @CITB Cyfle Building Skills and #apprenticeships!
