A moment to connect after an inspiring week at SWITCH Singapore After a full week of conversations, panels, and discoveries at SWITCH Singapore, we brought together our friends and partners from across the Singaporean and global quantum ecosystems for an evening to unwind, connect and reflect. It was a reminder that collaboration and community sit at the heart of innovation. Meaningful progress in quantum computing is built not only in labs, but also through shared ideas and genuine relationships. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us — your energy and insight continue to shape the future of this field. #SWITCH2025 #SingaporeInnovation #SolveScaleChangeWorld
About us
A quantum computer harnesses the fundamental forces that govern the physical world. It can efficiently model complex systems in ways that would take the best classical computer millions of years, and so help revolutionise drug design, climate modelling, battery chemistry, and many other vital processes. But to achieve all this, we need to make quantum computers work reliably at scale. We started Universal Quantum to meet this challenge - because we believe that by doing so, we can help solve the most difficult problems faced by humanity. We’re following a pragmatic, engineering-based roadmap to build a device that is useful in the real world: a quantum computer that has utility. Every approach we take, every solution we devise, is geared towards this goal.

It was a real honour to speak at the Science, Innovation and Technology Committee in Westminster yesterday about the UK’s opportunity to lead in quantum computing. At Universal Quantum, our mission is to build utility scale quantum computers that can solve humanity’s most complex problems. These machines will transform industries from pharmaceuticals and energy to defence and finance, and the UK is uniquely positioned to lead this new technological era. My message to the committee was clear. The UK already has the science, the talent, and the entrepreneurial drive to be a world leader in quantum computing. But this is a global race. To secure true sovereign capability, we need faster investment, dedicated infrastructure, and the courage to back our home-grown innovation with meaningful procurement. Quantum computing has the power to reshape entire industries. If we back the talent and innovation already here in the UK, we can turn that potential into lasting global impact. You can watch my full remarks to the Committee here: https://lnkd.in/e84FV9yx #QuantumComputing #Innovation #UKTech #ScienceAndTechnologyCommittee #UniversalQuantum

Celebrating Ada Lovelace Day at Universal Quantum Today we celebrate Ada Lovelace Day, honouring one of the most visionary minds in science and technology. Often regarded as the world’s first computer programmer, Ada Lovelace imagined what machines could become long before her time, not just tools for calculation but instruments for creativity and progress. At Universal Quantum, we carry that same spirit forward. Building utility scale quantum computers requires bold thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the imagination to see beyond what currently exists. Ada’s legacy reminds us that innovation begins with curiosity and courage, qualities that continue to shape our work every day. To all the women pushing the boundaries of science, engineering, and technology, past, present, and future, we celebrate you. #AdaLovelaceDay #WomenInSTEM #QuantumComputing #Innovation #UniversalQuantum

Quantum computing has been named one of the pillars of the UK’s industrial strategy – and Universal Quantum is proud to be at the centre of this story. In her latest The Times feature, Jane Hamilton explores how quantum computing is outpacing even AI in growth, backed by the UK government’s £2.5bn commitment. With 76 firms nationally, the UK is now Europe’s largest hub – and scaling quantum computers is increasingly recognised as an engineering challenge requiring talent from across industries, from finance to pharma to manufacturing. At Universal Quantum, we are building the utility-scale quantum computers that can transform these sectors. As our CEO Dr Sebastian Weidt puts it: “Some of the most valuable progress comes from those who combine quantum knowledge with a deep understanding of industry challenges.” This is not just about physicists. It is about engineers, programmers, strategists, and problem-solvers of every kind. The sector is projected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the coming decades – with the chance to build careers that will shape science, technology, and industry worldwide. We are honoured to have been profiled as one of the UK’s key players, alongside insights from our Co-Founder Professor Winfried Hensinger. Find the article attached.

A few days ago I joined BBC coverage to discuss the UK–US Technology Accord. I spoke about why international collaboration is vital to accelerate progress in one of the defining technologies of our age, while stressing that Britain must also safeguard sovereign capability. With long term support and strong public–private collaboration, the UK has a genuine opportunity to secure its leadership role in quantum computing. Universal Quantum is proud to be at the forefront. #QuantumComputing #SolveScaleChangeWorld #Innovation #FutureTech

Scaling quantum computers is not just a vision, it is an engineering challenge. In Volume 02 of our Engineering Notes from the Quantum Frontier series, we explore why modularity is not an abstract concept but a discipline. From error-free interconnects to manufacturable modules and supply chain readiness, scaling only becomes possible when modularity is built into every design choice. At Universal Quantum, this is the backbone of our approach. There's lots in the news on the deal UK and US have just signed on key technologies, like Quantum and AI. I had the pleasure of speaking this morning with both UK's brand new Secretary of State for Science, Innovation & Technology Liz Kendall, as well as Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. There was a lot of optimism from them for building technology that can truly help diverse groups throughout our countries, and also for building (highly scalable) quantum computers on UK soil. Which rumour has it Universal Quantum may be doing :). Sovereign capabilities in these upcoming trillion dollar technologies, will be critical for these great countries to continue their track records of success.
