About us
The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) team at Nottingham offers support throughout the lifetime of KTP projects - from early stage, exploratory enquiries through to help with final reports. Most importantly the KTP team offers full proposal development support to ensure your proposal has the very best chance of success. About KTP: Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is a long-standing programme that uses the knowledge and technology in the UK Knowledge Base to help businesses meet core strategic needs to fuel growth. A KTP is a three-way project between a company, a university, and a recent graduate (known as a KTP Associate). On average, businesses that take part in KTPs gain £283,000 pre-tax profit per year. SMEs taking part in a KTP typically receive between £80,000 and £120,000 in funding in order to do this. We can work with businesses of any type and size, from local micro-businesses to large multinationals. Equally, the project can relate to any academic field, from archaeology to zoology. If you are interested in growing your business with the help of Innovate UK funding and University of Nottingham expertise please get in touch.

🌱 Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Pinnacle Plants International Ltd for their final Local Management Committee (LMC) meeting. Over the past three years, Pinnacle Plants has partnered with Plant Molecular Biologist and KTP Associate Nadeesha Lewke Bandara (pictured right) on a strategic project to build in-house expertise in tree propagation through cuttings – helping to reduce time to market and meet growing demand. Throughout the project, Nadeesha was supported by University of Nottingham academics: Dr Amanda Rasmussen (pictured left), Associate Professor in Plant Ecophysiology (School of Biosciences), and Professor Jonathan Aylott (School of Pharmacy), both from the Faculty of Science, University of Nottingham. Together, they bridged the gap between academia and industry to investigate how hormone treatments and different soil compositions could accelerate growth. This is just the beginning – Nadeesha will continue at Pinnacle Plants to expand on the R&D work initiated through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership. Huge congratulations to Nadeesha on securing this permanent position – we wish her and the team at Pinnacle Plants every success with future developments. Taking a moment to reflect on what has been a wonderful week of conversations, inspiration, and action! 💫 On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome more than 80 delegates – including past and present University of Nottingham KTP business partners, Innovate UK colleagues and university researchers – to celebrate the lasting impact of Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Partnerships in our region and beyond. It was also a chance to look ahead with excitement to the opportunities still to come. 🗨️ Speaking about the impact of KTPs, Richard Lamb, KTP Programme Manager at Innovate UK, said: “KTPs are really important because they help unlock the knowledge contained within the university and transfer it into businesses for their benefit. In the last 50 years, KTP has delivered over 14,000 projects. Between 2010 and 2020, Innovate UK contributed around £200 million to support projects, which in turn delivered £2.3 billion back to the UK economy.” A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – especially our inspiring speakers and panellists (Professor Tom Rodden, Richard Lamb, Dr Celina Dugulin, Dr George Rice, Victoria Howard, Professor Jonathan Aylott and Marta Villafranca) for sharing their knowledge and experiences, and our fantastic exhibitors (Murphy & Son Ltd, Browne Jacobson, Unilever (The Magnum Ice Cream Company), Trelleborg Group, Added Scientific Ltd., Cerca Magnetics Limited and Neupulse for bringing the impact of research and KTP to life through their work. 📸 We’re delighted to share a few highlights from the event below. #WeAreUoN #KTP50 University of Nottingham Research | Innovate UK Business Connect | Faculty of Science, University of Nottingham | University of Nottingham Innovation Park | Nottingham Technology Ventures Ltd
