This week the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero published its Clean Energy Jobs Plan, setting out a new generation of jobs to deliver #EnergySecurity. With almost 100,000 people currently working in the UK’s nuclear industry, we are proud to be a key player supporting new clean energy jobs in the sector. For instance, Freya, a junior project manager here at Urenco, is working at our under-construction HALEU facility in Capenhurst, UK. She says: “As a young person in the industry, it’s exciting to work in a sector that’s driving real change through innovation and new technology. Knowing the work, we’re delivering today is helping shape tomorrow’s energy landscape is incredibly rewarding.” Find out more about the plan here: https://lnkd.in/eBw3qusY

Earlier this week, we announced another win for security of supply: we’re scaling-up uranium enrichment capacity at our site in The Netherlands - now committing to 1.5 million SWU through two expansion phases. The second phase features the construction of an additional centrifuge hall representing another 750,000 SWU and is expected to come online from 2030. This move is part of our global capacity programme, which now totals 2.5 million SWU of new capacity, including active cascades in the USA. As #NuclearEnergy continues to gain global momentum, our sites in Almelo (The Netherlands) Eunice (USA) Gronau, (Germany) and Capenhurst (UK), are strengthening #EnergySecurity and supporting a reliable, Western fuel supply chain. In the run-up to #COP30, our CEO, Boris Schucht highlights that without nuclear, it will be impossible to meet global #ClimateTargets. During a conversation with Net Zero Nuclear he emphasised the benefits of #nuclear working alongside renewables to bring about the transition.
🌍 Without nuclear, there is no net zero. As the world looks towards COP30, leading voices across the energy sector are united on one point: nuclear energy must play a central role in achieving the Paris Agreement climate goals. 🔹 “Without doubt… every credible pathway to net zero concludes that nuclear has to play a central role.” — Amir Adnani, Uranium Energy Corp 🔹 “More and more countries understand that without nuclear, it will be impossible to meet climate targets.” — Boris Schultz, Urenco Global 🔹 “Nuclear energy has proven to be the low-carbon solution to help emerging countries decarbonize.” — Dr. Lassina Zerbo, Rwanda Atomic Energy Board Nuclear power delivers reliable, affordable, and low-carbon energy—working alongside renewables to power industries, economies, and the clean transition. 🌱 Join the movement as we build the Net Zero Nuclear Coalition on the road to COP30 and beyond. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eR6Rt4Eb #NetZeroNuclear #COP30 #EnergyTransition #NuclearEnergy #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction

One key highlight from last month was the World Nuclear Association’s 50th annual symposium, which we were proud to attend as sponsors. Our CEO, Boris Schucht, contributed to the Executive Plenary Session on ‘Leading Nuclear into New Markets’. And our Head of Advanced Fuels, Magnus Mori, delivered a keynote presentation on the role of #SMRs in meeting industrial energy demands. It was great to showcase how #NuclearEnergy is supporting many sectors in delivering #NetZero goals.

At Urenco, we’re encouraged to see major players in the technology sector - like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Meta - embracing nuclear power as a cornerstone of their energy strategies. The recent update on Amazon’s Cascade Advanced Energy Facility - developed with X-energy and Energy Northwest - marks another milestone in the deployment of #SMRs to meet the energy demands of the digital age. With #DataCentres becoming increasingly energy-intensive, #NuclearEnergy offers a scalable and sustainable solution to support the backbone of our connected world. Tech companies are now leading the way in recognising the value of #NuclearInnovation in powering AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure. As a key global supplier of #AdvancedFuels, Urenco welcomes this progress and supports the broader transition to advanced nuclear technologies that will help industries achieve their #NetZero goals while ensuring #EnergySecurity. Urenco Global reposted this
🚨 “Without nuclear, it will be impossible to meet climate targets.” – Boris Schucht, CEO of Urenco At COP28 and COP29, global leaders pledged to triple nuclear capacity by 2050. But pledges must now be translated into action – political, industrial, and financial. At COP30 in Brazil, World Nuclear Association and our partners will make sure the nuclear industry has a strong voice through the Net Zero Nuclear platform. Why? Because nuclear power is essential for affordable, reliable, and clean energy – and collaboration at COP30 is key to turning ambition into reality. ▶️ Watch the video and hear why nuclear must deliver, deliver, deliver. #NetZeroNuclear #COP30 #EnergizingTheFuture #CleanEnergy #Nuclear

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continues its participation in #G20 in South Africa – where is has shined a spotlight on the critical role of #NuclearEnergy in achieving #EnergySecurity and #NetZero. The G20 process focused on how a combination of policy, finance and infrastructure can enable the scaling up of nuclear energy in emerging economies as part of resilient and affordable #EnergySystems. Urenco is pleased to see this confirmation of our belief that nuclear is a critical enabler of a #LowCarbon future. We’re continuing to work with the wider sector to ensure that increased demand for nuclear power is met with a trusted, secure supply of #NuclearFuel. Michael Bryant and Rachel Johnson from Urenco’s Commercial Department recently hosted a focused fuel seminar in Seoul, South Korea, highlighting the company’s developments in supporting the expanding nuclear market and strengthening the low-enriched uranium (LEU) supply chain. The event also featured a session on #AdvancedFuels, during which Urenco discussed both the challenges and opportunities shaping the sector. During the seminar, Urenco announced that it will become the first Western commercial supplier of #HALEU (high-assay low-enriched uranium), marking a significant milestone for the Western nuclear industry and the development of advanced fuels. The seminar was well attended by key Korean stakeholders, including representatives from KHNP, SK Innovation, POSCO International, KAERI, DL E&C, interested embassy counterparts, Doosan Enerbility, Mott MacDonald, the Korea Atomic Industrial Forum (KAIF), and others – all expressing strong interest in the emerging advanced fuels market. The event was a great success, and Urenco looks forward to continued collaboration with these partners in the future. Urenco extends its sincere thanks to the British Embassy in Seoul, the Department for Business and Trade, and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero for their invaluable support in organising and delivering this successful event.
