Founder Elliot is an avid collector, who built his collection after a degenerative medical condition forced him to abandon a youth national-level sports career. Thanks to collecting, Elliot overcame a difficult and potentially destructive time in his life. Yet Elliot faced increasing problems. He couldn’t get his collection insured. What’s more, if something happened to him, it would be very hard for his family to understand or value what he would pass on. And, as an everyday concern, Elliot was losing track of what he owned – and at risk of buying doubles. That’s why Elliot founded Valart – because it wasn’t just him facing these problems. The collectibles market is projected to be worth £386bn by 2028, yet it’s entirely underserved. From the outside, collecting can seem confusing. Collections are hard to value.
