We are a coalition of 25 charities working to prevent cancer, improve care, fund research & influence policy in Wales.
About us
The Wales Cancer Alliance (WCA) promotes the best cancer prevention, treatment, research and care for people in Wales. Every year we invest more than £20m in Wales and contribute to the development of cancer policy. We believe that people affected by cancer and their carers should be at the heart of co-creating new services and cancer policy. The third sector has an important role to play in developing, reshaping and delivering improvements in cancer care. We do this by working in partnership with the Welsh Government, the NHS, local government and other stakeholders.

Today, clinicians and stakeholders from across Wales are in Cardiff to learn more about the capsule sponge diagnostic test. This medical innovation will allow the NHS to deliver fairer, faster cancer services for people affected by oesophageal cancer, one of the six less survivable cancers. We made three critical recommendations to improve overall oesophageal and stomach cancer survival: 1. Cancer symptom awareness campaigns. 2. Adopt and roll out innovations like the capsule sponge test, and 3. A Barrett's Oesophagus registry. To learn more about each recommendation, read "A Burning Issue" 👇 https://lnkd.in/ewu9BPgw
