Way of Life’s Alan Bailey joined industry peers at the Build to Rent Movers & Shakers Property Networking Forum in early October to discuss the next generation of rented living. What’s next? What’s the latest thinking? And most importantly, what does the future really look like? From co-living to the development of single-family homes, despite the challenges facing the sector, the future looks bright for Way of Life and the wider industry. It’s been almost one year since Dear Coco Coffee officially opened their doors at The Gessner’s coffee shop space. Since then, we’ve watched the ground floor amenity spaces evolve into a hub of community, conversation and creativity – not only for our residents, but for the wider community too. At Way of Life, we pride ourselves on being a platform for people's lives. Not only do we want our residents to love living in the buildings in which we operate, we want them to feel happier, creative and inspired. Whether it’s in the comfort of their thoughtfully designed apartment, or in the backdrop of our purposeful amenity spaces. For Lalita, a resident at The Gessner in Tottenham Hale, inspiration struck on the 13th floor. It was in the private dining room and kitchen that she launched ‘Loon Pung by Lalita’ - a Thai supper club founded with her best friend and housemate. With a rotating menu of fresh ingredients, her Michelin-level flair, and The Gessner’s interiors as a setting, Loon Pung is going from strength to strength with a waitlist of over 100 guests. What a way to launch! We had an incredible Open Day at The Eades almost two weeks ago, giving so many a very first look at our largest project to date. We enjoyed fresh coffee, brand new co-working spaces, beautiful flowers to take home and unbeatable views - we can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon. There is always a little bit of extra pressure that comes from taking on a building with history, but since we got the keys to Balfron Tower in early 2024, it’s a building we have grown to truly love. Balfron Tower isn’t just any Brutalist building. It’s featured in 28 Days Later, an Oasis video, and countless architectural journals. But beyond the pop culture cameos, it’s also the first heritage building Way of Life has operated. From preserving its design integrity to upgrading amenity spaces for our Build to Rent customer, Balfron Tower has quickly become one of our most rewarding (and interesting) operational stories. We are proud to partner with Traid to collect textile donations from Way of Life residents and staff at our buildings in London. We're delighted to share that since 2023, we've managed to divert 8,551kgs of unwanted clothes and shoes from landfill, reduced carbon emissions (CO2) by 72.7 tonnes and water savings of 13,681 m3. This is just one of the many ways we support and encourage our residents to make environmentally conscious decisions and live sustainably day-to-day. We’re delighted to share that last year we commenced a long-term partnership with William Morris Gallery, a local landmark just a short walk from The Eades. You’ll have spotted the gallery in a lot of our launch campaigns, but we’re looking forward continuing to support the amazing work they do with the local community and schools in Waltham Forest over the next 12 months and beyond.

At Way of Life, we’re proud to support future talent and create spaces where art, education and community meet - with both creativity and community being one of our core brand pillars. Our latest launch, The Eades in Walthamstow, is opening its doors in September, but we couldn’t help but get inside sooner to collaborate with artist, Hugo Dalton, renowned for his intricate, nature-inspired installations, and Future Formed, a London Borough of Waltham Forest programme that inspires and supports young Waltham Forest residents to explore opportunities within the creative industries.     It was a brilliant day. We began with a creative workshop at William Morris Gallery, guided by Hugo. Participants from Future Formed explored the gallery, drawing inspiration from William Morris' legacy. In the afternoon, the group moved to The Eades for mentoring sessions and took part in the live installation of Hugo’s mural which now sits proudly in The Eades’ lobby.    The ground floor space of The Eades will soon be open to all, we can’t wait for you to come by and see it for yourself. Thank you to everyone who took part! #TheEades #Walthamstow #CreativeWorkshop #BTR

Since Riverstone Heights opened its doors two years ago, it’s been wonderful watching the community here grow, with help from our on-site team hosting wonderful events. From terrarium workshops, to summer parties – there's something for everyone.     Most recently, we hosted breakfast in the sky-high private dining room and lounge. Knowing that most residents love our after work socials, a morning event during the week could be seen as an unpopular time, but this brunch not only fitted in with their day-to-day lifestyle and schedule, but also their appetite (pun intended) for genuine connection.
