🔔 Women in Data® partner—Faculty is opening applications for a 9-week Data Science Fellowship Programme (PAID)🔔 Start date: Monday 26th January End date: Friday 27th March 2026 (full-time, Monday to Friday)* Fellows are paid London Living Wage for the duration of the programme (ie. the full nine weeks). After the programme, the fellows are welcome to join Faculty's free online community where all the fellowship alumni discuss data science news, techniques, conferences and much more. Faculty provides career support to the graduated fellows - once you are part of their "professional network", they will keep in touch and help you succeed in your data science career. You must have the right to work full-time in the UK. Unfortunately, Faculty AI cannot sponsor this role. In general, successful candidates meet the following criteria: →A finished PhD or Master's in a STEM subject →A high level of mathematical competence. →The ability to code or have programming experience, especially in Python. →Some experience with theoretical concepts of statistical learning. →Experience with some coding libraries frequently used in data science. →Experience composing and following a project plan/sticking to self-imposed deadlines. →The ability to communicate effectively. ⏰ TIMELINE Application Deadline: 5th November 2025 (5PM) Coding test: end of October 2025 Interviews (virtual): mid November 2025 Application result: January 9th 2026 latest *Please note that the dates for the program are tentative and may be adjusted. In celebration of #AdaLovelaceDay, we honour the late Dame Stephanie Shirley for her remarkable contributions to the Women in Data® community and to women around the world.    At just 5 years old, Dame Stephanie was 1 of the 10,000 child refugees evacuated to England from Germany on the Kindertransport.   Frustrated by the low expectations, inequality and sexism that women faced in the workplace in the 1960’s, she decided to start her own company software company Freelance Programmers.   Dame Stephanie cemented herself in the history books as a trailblazer for women in work and flexible working practises, staffing Freelance Programmers with women working from home.   297 of the first 300 staff were women. 297!    To say this was revolutionary is an understatement - with all this taking place at a time when a woman couldn’t open a bank account without her husband’s permission.   The industry was slow to catch up to her thinking.   People laughed at the idea, were openly hostile and actively ignored Stephanie’s business development letters.   Based on her dear husband Derek’s suggestion, Stephanie began signing her letters using the family nickname Steve.   She was able to get her foot in the door, before anyone realised, he was a she.   Dame Stephanie was known as Steve ever since.    Fast-forward to the year 2000, the company that started out as Freelance Programmers was valued at almost $3 billion.   Due to Dame Stephanie’s co-ownership structure, she made over 70 of her staff millionaires.    Dame Stephanie’s story has impacted thousands in our community over the years, including at our flagship events, where she received two standing ovations. She was inducted into the Women in Data® Twenty in Data & Tech, Series 4.   Dame Stephanie's legacy continues to inspire us. ❤️
