We’re excited to share this Buildings Breakthrough milestone announcement! For the first time, governments and partners have agreed on a global definition and building blocks for Near-Zero Emission & Resilient Buildings (NZERBs), paving the way for them to become the new normal by 2030! WorldGBC is proud to have co-led Priority Action B1 — working closely with the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), governments, and an extraordinary coalition of partners. 👉 Read the #BuildingsBreakthrough Interim Report: https://lnkd.in/ddcATNar ✨ The shared understanding of these definitions and building blocks will guide governments worldwide to establish aligned policies, stimulating market demand, unlocking finance, and accelerating innovation. #BeBoldOnBuildings #BuildingTheTransition #COP30

📆 The 15th PLGBC Green Building Summit is taking place from 9–10 October in Warsaw. This international event in Poland is dedicated to sustainable construction and architecture and the slogan for this this year’s PLGBC Green Building Summit is: Building Harmony: Climate, Nature, Circularity, Wellbeing 💜 The programme for the first day will focus on four strategic thematic areas (sessions): 🟣 Zero Carbon and Climate Resilience 🟣 Leadership for Circularity 🟣 Biodiversity First 🟣 Architecture and Buildings for Wellbeing As part of our #BuildingLife project, on day two there will be a session called, ‘How to build a future without emissions’. Throughout the day there will be other sessions and panels that will unpack why we must decarbonise buildings in the face of a climate crisis. However, the highlight of the day will be the launch of PLGBC Polish Green Building Council’s report, which will share the Green Building Council’s analysis of various types of buildings. 👉 Find out more about the summit here: https://lnkd.in/dGUnDagK #PLGBCSummit2025 #BeBoldOnBuildings #BuildingTheTransition #COP30

Addressing the climate impact of Europe’s buildings requires a whole life perspective. A large share of emissions linked to the built environment comes not only from energy use during building operation but also from construction materials, renovation, and demolition. These whole life carbon (WLC) impacts have often been overlooked in regulation, yet they are essential to Europe’s decarbonisation pathway. The INDICATE programme, an initiative of WorldGBC’s European Regional Network (ERN) and partners, has been working to close this gap. Between 2022 and 2024, INDICATE collaborated with pilot projects in Ireland, the Czech Republic, and Spain to demonstrate how national policies can begin to account for WLC. This effort now continues with INDICATE LIFE (2024–2026), co-funded by the European Commission, expanding to Austria, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, and Luxembourg. With funding from the @Laudes Foundation, a new explainer video sets out INDICATE’s contribution to data-driven policymaking, technical guidance, and cross-sector collaboration for a more sustainable built environment in Europe. 🔗 Learn more about INDICATE here: https://bit.ly/42XXtfZ Laudes Foundation | Smith Innovation | BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe | Rise | KU Leuven | LIFE Programme #BeBoldOnBuildings #BuildingTheTransition
