OUR WEEK IN PHOTOS 📸 🧼 We kicked things off with a spruce-up along Goodramgate over the weekend. Our Street Cleaning team were out bright and early on Saturday, tackling debris from the night before and keeping the area looking its best. 🍽️ On Monday, we launched the October edition of York Restaurant Week - 14 days of incredible foodie deals across the city! We celebrated with a live broadcast with the brilliant YorkMix, visiting four participating venues, and a big thank you to Town Crier Ben Fry, who brought his trademark energy and volume to Parliament Street. ☕ We joined Indie York (York Independent Business Association) members for a coffee morning at Divine Coffee Roasters - a great opportunity to catch up with York’s independent business community. 🚓 We supported North Yorkshire Police with Operation Tornado this week, with our Street Rangers assisting in the city centre. Meanwhile, Sara-Lee Bull and the team engaged with businesses about the ShopWatch Radio scheme, continuing our partnership work to keep York safe. 🎨 There are some bright new additions to Parliament Street and Piccadilly! As part of our Outside the Box project, we’ve installed mini murals designed by local artists Leah Pendleton and Rob Stothert. Businesses told us they wanted us to focus on the cleanliness and appearance of street furniture, and this creative intervention helps tackle vandalism and flyposting while celebrating York’s status as a UNESCO City of Media Arts. 🗳️ And finally, it’s the last chance to make sure your vote counts in the York BID Ballot. If you’re a levy-paying business, please return your ballot paper this weekend. The York Business Festival at York St. John University will run from Monday, 24 - Thursday, 27 November and will celebrate and showcase all that they do to support the business communities of #York and beyond.   This year's keynote speakers are Emma Jones, Small Business Commissioner and Clare Bailey FISP, FIPM, MCIPS, Retail and Hospitality Champion. The Festival is organised by York Business School at York St John University in partnership with The Press York, and supported by City of York Council, York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub, and York BID. Our week in photos 📸 🌙 Sara-Lee Bull joined our Night Safe Officers on their Friday night shift in York. The team help to tackle anti-social behaviour, reduce noise levels, and de-escalate potential issues before they grow - acting as a crucial link between the public, door staff, and emergency services. 🍽️ Excitement is building for York Restaurant Week, which kicks off on Monday. It’s been fantastic to see so many participating venues sharing their offers and enthusiasm across social media - we can’t wait to get started! 💡 Our Winter Lights are now being installed across the city. These ones, on Parliament Street, will shine in a range of colours throughout the darker months, helping to brighten the city centre and create a welcoming atmosphere. 🧼 Our Street Cleaning team hard at work on Goodramgate, giving the area a spruce-up and keeping the city looking its best. 🏙️ Carl Alsop & Eleanor Richardson attended the Association of Town & City Management Big Cities Conference 2025. Our week in photos 📸 🧼 Our Street Cleaning team giving the Snickelways a spruce-up, ready for an exciting new public art project… 📜 We were proud to unveil the Snickelways History Trail this morning, in partnership with the University of York, York Civic Trust & Bright White Ltd. Part of York BID’s wider Snickelways Rejuvenation Project, this marks the culmination of two years of work to make these much-loved passageways cleaner, safer, and a more positive experience for everyone. 👉 Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/epitQMzw 🛍️ Great to see our Support York campaign being celebrated around Goodramgate and Kings Square - including Tesco, proudly displaying that they’re part of it too. 🍻 We held our latest Pubwatch meeting - an important forum for updates and collaboration to keep York’s night-time economy safe and thriving. 🎭 We brought 'Reignite X: Exporting Ideas' to York Theatre Royal, exploring how creativity developed in York reaches national and international audiences, and what that means for growth, collaboration, and opportunity. A brilliant evening with so many inspiring voices in the room. 🌦️ And finally, as colder weather arrives, we packed away the last of our summer seating for the season - with our Street Rangers on hand to help.
