This is how the ATS scans your CV for keywords. I've seen a few videos where some "influencer" claims that this type of heatmap shows how the ATS scans your CV and decides whether to progress your application or not. Sure it looks clever but it's utter nonsense. This is the result of eye tracking software. Software that tracks where a user's eyes (aka a real human) focus when viewing a webpage or even a CV. Commonly used by UX designers to see how users interact with their website so they can improve it. But not by an ATS. An ATS doesn't have eyes. Stop letting ‘Playboy69’ ruin your job applications..... As a recruiter, I’ve seen thousands of CVs come across my desk. Some are polished, some need work, but one small detail can set the tone before I even read a single line: your email address. Let’s be honest. Most of us created our first email accounts in high school or college. At the time, it felt completely normal to sign up as playboy69@… or ilovedoritos247@…. It was funny. It was memorable. It made sense when the biggest email you were sending was a group project update. But fast forward to today.... you’re applying for a professional job, and that same email address is at the top of your CV. Suddenly, what once got laughs could now raise eyebrows. Here’s why this matters: First impressions count. Your email is literally the first thing a recruiter sees. A questionable one makes us pause before we even open your resume. It signals professionalism. If you can create a clean, simple email like [email protected], it shows attention to detail. It’s free and easy. There are dozens of platforms where you can set up a brand-new professional email in minutes. No excuses. Pro tip: If your name is common, add a middle initial, profession, or city. Something like [email protected] or [email protected] is still miles better than a jumble of numbers or old inside jokes. Bottom line: Don’t let a silly relic from your teenage years block you from a career opportunity today. Creating a professional email address is one of the quickest fixes you can make to immediately upgrade your job search. And recruiters everywhere will thank you for it. 😉

💥 The hall of shame: interview feedback edition 💥 Let’s be honest — some of the feedback candidates get after interviews can be fairly insulting. It’s vague, lazy, and does nothing to help someone actually improve. Here are 5 of the worst offenders I hear all the time: 1. “It was a really close call.” Translation: We don’t want to tell you why we picked someone else. Zero substance, zero value. 2. “We promoted someone internally.” Fair enough — but why invite external candidates in the first place? 3. “You don’t have the right background.” Strange, considering my CV screamed that from the beginning — and you still dragged me through multiple rounds. 4. “You’re too experienced.” Ah yes, the classic crime of knowing too much. Since when is capability a liability? 5. “Another candidate was a stronger fit.” The most meaningless feedback of them all. It’s a polite way of saying nothing at all. 👉 If businesses actually want candidates to respect them (and maybe even reapply in future), feedback has to be constructive. Otherwise, it’s just hot air and wasted effort on both sides. #job #interview #candidatefeedback #business #recruitment #hiring
