Berwick Bank Wind Farm has received development consent from The Scottish Government, clearing the final major approval to progress this game-changing renewable energy project. We spoke with Paul Cooley Director of Offshore Wind at SSE Renewables, who highlighted the immense scale and national and global significance of Berwick Bank: 🔹At 4.1GW, it would become the largest offshore wind farm in the world if fully delivered, capable of powering over six million homes annually 🔹 It would be expected to over £8billion in economic value to the UK and create around 9,300 UK jobs at peak construction, including 4,650 in Scotland 🔹 It could boost Scotland’s operational renewable electricity capacity by nearly 25%, accelerating the journey to net zero by 2045 Paul described it as: “A fantastic achievement not just for SSE, but for Scotland – and for our collective effort to tackle climate change.”   Watch the video below to find out more.

🌬️ Showcasing Clyde Wind Farm’s £20M+ investment in Scottish communities 🌱 Clyde Wind Farm, a joint venture between SSE plc, Greencoat UK Wind PLC, and GLIL CORPORATE HOLDINGS LIMITED, has reached a major milestone – with £20.8 million invested in 1,000+ community projects across Scotland’s southern uplands since 2012. Clyde is one of Europe’s largest onshore wind farms. From Biggar to Moffat, local and regional community benefit funds have supported local priorities – from youth opportunities and community assets to tackling fuel poverty. The Scottish government has committed £8.5m to advance offshore wind in north-east Scotland. Verlume, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Maritime Developments Limited, and Fraserburgh Harbour are set to benefit, with the funding linked to skills development at the new Energy Transition Zone Ltd Hub in Aberdeen.
