GB Bank has bolstered its lending leadership team with the appointments of Jude Miranda as Senior Credit Partner and Alan Fitzpatrick as Head of Lending Operations. The new hires reflect the bank’s ambitious growth plans, as it targets £500m of new lending over the next six months. Jude Miranda joins with more than 30 years of lending experience, including roles at Shawbrook Bank, Masthaven Bank, Hampshire Trust Bank and, most recently, Glenhawk. As Senior Credit Partner, he will support the growth of GB Bank’s property lending portfolio, with a focus on maintaining strong credit quality while enabling agile, high-value decisions. Alan Fitzpatrick brings extensive operational expertise to his role as Head of Lending Operations, having held previous roles including Head of Mortgage Originations at Metro Bank, VP of Lending Operations at Habito and Head of Property Finance at Nomo. He will lead the end-to-end lending operations function at GB Bank, helping to drive efficiency, scalability, and best-in-class broker service. In addition, GB Bank has launched a Summer Internship Programme, offering students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of departments within the bank. Our CEO of Financial Services and Mortgage Choice, Anthony Waldron, recently presented the last donation cheque to Mortgage Choice's FY25 national charity partner, Dolly's Dream, as part of the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation (MCCF). Since its inception in 2022, the MCCF has supported people in need by donating to registered Australian charities focused on vulnerable groups, housing and financial literacy. In FY25, the MCCF donated more than $444,000 to 78 charities across Australia. In FY25, 92% of brokers in the Mortgage Choice network opted in to contribute to the foundation by contributing $5 for each loan settled over $100,000. In FY26, more than 94% of the network's brokers have opted in. Anthony Waldron said: “Our Mortgage Choice brokers are incredibly passionate about making a real difference in the communities they operate in and the MCCF has raised more than $1 million for people in need around Australia since it was first established. It’s fantastic to see the MCCF having a meaningful impact.” Throughout the year, Mortgage Choice will continue to support state-based charities nominated by franchisees and will support the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia as its National Charity Partner in FY26. Just announced: The Government has allocated more than £4.5bn to the Bank as part of the ‘Backing your Business’ small business plan. Four existing Bank initiatives are being extended or expanded to provide further support for smaller businesses, including the Growth Guarantee Scheme, our Start Up Loans programme, ENABLE Guarantees programme, and Regional Angels Programme. This funding provides greater certainty and more capacity to help support established and new businesses in accessing the finance they need to grow and thrive. We’re really pleased to have gone live with a new service to support The Insolvency Service in recovering money for the benefit of creditors and the UK taxpayer. The contract was awarded through the Crown Commercial Service Debt Resolution Services (DRS) framework and is delivered by Sopra Steria Financial Services alongside our strategic partner, QUALCO UK. Craig Wilson, Managing Director of Private Sector at Sopra Steria, said: “By returning more money to the public purse we’re helping the Insolvency Service to continue its vital work supporting vulnerable employees and other companies in the wider ecosystem.” Georgina Maskell, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the Insolvency Service, said: “This new partnership will mean that the Insolvency Service can continue to support those in financial distress and optimise returns to creditors.
