Lessons on the volatile pricing of the used EV car market, from two of the leading figures in the sector, the traditional OEM MD, James Taylor, of Nissan Motor Corporation and, new entrant, Victor Zhang, MD OMODA UK. One key take-out from the Cox Automotive Europe panel at this year's EV SUMMIT is that my work, in communications, is key to customer confidence in second hand EVs, and to, therefore, address volatile pricing. Across the two days of the summit, time and time again, EV education and communications came up as a key topic for getting the new cohort of mainstream EV consumers on board with the EV transition.

Michelin Tyre B2B sales director Andrew French has addressed the current road transport sector megatrends in an interview for the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ newsletter and website. French outlined the significant challenges and developments facing the sector, beginning with the urgent need to decarbonise fleets. While adoption of alternative fuel vehicles is increasing, infrastructure limitations and the high cost of electric trucks remain major hurdles. French said that Michelin supports all driveline technologies by focusing on tyre performance, safety, and improving efficiency for internal combustion engines and range for electric vehicles.

Recovery firm powers on with Mercedes-Benz deal “This truck had to meet serious demands — and it’s exceeded expectations.” Nationwide breakdown and recovery firm Alpha Recovery Ltd has added a Mercedes-Benz Arocs truck to its fleet. Bosses say the 15.6-litre behemoth will be a “cornerstone of operations”. The firm, which has depots in Dudley, near Cramlington, Northumberland, and Peterlee, east Durham, secured the vehicle through Bell Truck and Van Mercedes-Benz. The truck – which has been fitted with a Falkom FAW25000 wrecker system – adds to a 30-plus fleet that provides heavy goods vehicle, off-road, bus, coach and van recovery services. This is a stark reminder: industrial resilience is national resilience. From submarines to cars, modern manufacturing depends not only on steel and skilled hands, but on digital systems. When those systems fail—or are attacked—the entire supply chain can grind to a halt. At the AUKUS Forum, we have said it many times: 🔹 Cybersecurity is shipyard security. 🔹 SMEs are the backbone of the alliance, but they are also the most vulnerable. 🔹 A whole-of-nation effort means hardening digital infrastructure too. If a single cyber incident can shut down one of the world’s leading automakers, imagine the impact on a submarine yard or defense supplier.
